La Roux and Friendly Fires on Mercury shortlist

La Roux and Friendly Fires have been added to the shortlist for this year's Mercury Music Prize.

Both are Mixmag faves. La Roux is currently on our cover while Friendly Fires play the Mixmag Terrace at Creamfields on Saturday August. 29.

The rest of the nominees include Bat For Lashes, Florence And The Machine, Glasvegas, The Horrors, Led Bib, The Invisible, Lisa Hannigan, Kasabian, Speech Debelle and Sweet Billy Pilgrim. Yeah, us neither.

The winner, scooping £20k, will be announced on September 8.
