Matt's Weekly Weapons

I’ve just returned from Berlin so these weaps are a day late. But woah do I have new vigour. 3 words… Dice at Watergate.

That was a vid from last year, but it was in that vein….. anyway here are my weeks treats straight from icy Germania….

Martyn - Friedrichstrasse

Martyn has been one of the brightest lights to emerge from 2009 and this track appears on his Fabric compilation and Fabric’s new Elevator Music release, both cracking mixes. Beautifully merging the dub and techno sounds this masterpiece steps straight into 2010 with a bang and when you have Londons mecca of 'le beat and le bang' loving your shit, its on!

Electric Jones (Jamie Jones) - Nasty's Party

Jones and Foss’ funk fuelled label’s new release is an absolute beast. The bass on this track is so serious that it should have some kind of health warning. I shouldn’t be surprised, I’ve witnessed a block of cement fall from the ceiling at one of my events due to one of his previous productions…. But that is another story. Basically it’s a bomb. Watch out for JJ's edits with Gadi Mizrahi, so so HOT!

Anna Stefani – Bumming

With an eccentric name and some seriously addictive drums, this is one pretty song with one ugly name. What I do know is that Reboot is shouting about this puppy and I am not surprised. This bouncy, driving housey treat really delivers a punch… Anna Stefani has really shown some tight production here, one for the box me thinks.

Tony Lionni – Treat Me Right

After the beast that was ‘Found A Place’ I’ve been itching for another Lionni bomb. This one goes some way to fulfilling the void. The signature melodic cacophonies laid upon a piercing hook that really brings this tune into the fore. From the moment you hear this tune you know Tony is behind it. The man is a bad ass, plain and simple.

Thodoris Triantafillou / CJ Jeff - Barum (Lemos remix)

Lemos’ re-edit takes us on a sub-bass marathon. The Greek producer made a name for himself with the funky ‘Kalooo’ and his remix ability is apparent. This track pounds its way into the hearts of many, bisected by penetrating chords and has a real Berlin feel to it. Thudding bass seems to be the main course here and I am ready to get stuck into it.

This week is now over. I’m off to get some well earned zzzzz. Fresh for next week’s weaps…

Ciao for now,

Matt x
