BlackBerry Torch

The new BlackBerry Torch is at the cutting-edge of mobile technology. It’s such a smart phone it should be in Mensa, and its touchscreen technology means it's easy-to-use. Simply tap or swipe it with your finger and it responds faster than Usain Bolt running for his chicken nuggets.

What makes the Torch stand out from the competition is its keyboard: when you want to type a text, email or use BlackBerry’s exclusive BBM instant messaging service – perhaps to say you'll be late from work, or for work – simply slide out the familiar BlackBerry QWERTY keypad from behind the touchscreen and work your magic...

For the web-savvy among you, the Torch’s rapid, rich web browsing makes it perfect for those nights in alone without the girlfriend. But more important than any of that, its enhanced music player promises to beat the pants off the competition, meaning you can rival those rude boys on the back of the bus.

Mix 1: Crazy P

We've been excited about getting Crazy P in to do a mix since we saw their soundsystem destroy the WOW stage at Glastonbury this year. By FAR the funkiest set we've ever seen. The live electric guitar on top of the tunes was mind blowing!

Here it is... enjoy it!

BIOGRAPHY:

A sizeable Summer is followed by a sizeable Autumn as CRAZY P ready a run of new releases, remixes, and edits to dropped all over your dance floors.

Over the next few weeks the boys head off to Bristol, Amsterdam Dance Event, Berlin, and Istanbul, and we are now booking for the rest of 2010.

After smashing the bejesus out of Garden, Big Chill, and Glastonbury festivals to name but a few, the last couple of months has seen them busy in the studio, yet still finding time to fit in DJ and soundsystem shows at Notting Carnival, and in London, Lativa, Rio, Sau Paulo, and Switzerland.

The first fruits of their studio labour are heading your way in November, as they remix De Signer for Jamie Jones' hotter than hot Hot Creations label - a deep electro tinged boogie monster is incoming!

Next up with a remix for another uber hip musical home - Wolf and Lamb. The Brooklyn based team and Crazy P are currently enjoying a mutal appreciation session, and the P are currently working on a mix of Greg Paulus' new track 'Night Time'.

And, lest we forget, the first all new material from Crazy P in quite a while will be a brand new two track EP for 2020 Vision. We don't want to say too much about this other than it slams, it claps, and it wiggles. If you want to have an exclusive listen to a first play, head over to the guys Ministry of Sound radio podcast to check the lead 'My Love'. Also on a 2020 tip, the guys are set to start putting together the next DJ mix of the label's estimable back catalogue - following in the ample footsteps of Greg Wilson and Stacey Pullen.

Since the release of his The Count & Sinden album project on Domino in 2010 he is now regarded as one of the best dance producers in the game. The lead single from that album ‘After Dark’ (featuring The Mystery Jets) was play listed on the UK’s Radio 1 and was the second most played song on Triple J in Australia. The album also features Bashy and new UK sensation Katy B.

Mark Ronson has personally asked him to remix the first two singles from his latest ‘Record Collection’ album and he has also recently remixed Faithless, Bloc Party, Lily Allen, Wiley, The Prodigy, Depeche Mode and Orbital amongst others.

His Cheap Thrills label has only been going for almost 3 years and has already released a number of modern club classics including Fake Blood’s ‘Mars’ and ‘I Think I Like It’ plus his own ‘Together’ and ‘Rikkalicious’ with Kissy Sell Out. The label is currently releasing 2 EPs per month with new releases from Jack Beats, Reset!, Fake Blood, Trevor Loveys and his own Hervé album project coming soon.

Hervé has recently released his second ‘Ghetto Bass’ mix CD and the second Cheap Thrills label compilation. The Count & Sinden have more great singles to be taken from their debut album so 2011 is going to be an even bigger year for Joshua ‘Hervé’ Harvey.

Blackberry Torch & Dsi Present Mauro Picotto by Don't Stay In on Mixcloud

TRACKLISTING:

Coming soon

BIOGRAPHY:

Mauro Picotto is an Italian DJ who has released over 600 productions and numerous remixes, and to date has sold over six million copies worldwide. He has played the best clubs with the most famous DJ’s on the globe, as well as having participated in all the major events, from Love Parade to Creamfields, MTV Festival, Winter Olympics in Turin, Ultra, Time Warp and Awakenings. One minute the stallion is spinning to a packed out 45,000-seater football stadium in Amsterdam and the next he’s playing to 18,000 in the middle of the Amazonian jungle at seven in the morning, with parrots flying overhead – Mauro is a man who is keen to break boundaries and isn’t afraid of change as he returns to the fray, bolder and more forward thinking than ever before

Mauro began his career in 1984, at the tender age of eighteen, at a club in Piedmont called Top Sound. A chance meeting there with Daniele Davoli (there to promote his Black Box single Ride On Time) swung open the doors of production to this wide-eyed, upcoming DJ. His first released track ‘We Gonna Get’, produced under the name RAF, became a Top 20 across much of Europe – a young Picotto had well and truly caught the electronic music bug.

Following his studies he devoted himself full time to his passion as a DJ and in 1988 he became a finalist in the Italian DMC, now a world-renowned brand and competition. In 1989 he won the Walky Cup Competition, broadcast on TV, which further cemented his growing reputation as the best thing to come out of Italy since the Lamborghini – but more humble, down to earth and less flashy. Substance over style is the key to Picotto’s work.

1998 saw him make his bid for UK stardom, with the release of the inescapable Gatecrasher anthem ‘Lizard’ a record that, for many, summed up the hegemony of the emerging trance sound. The track ended up being a Top 30 hit and was followed by two further instalments in the reptilian trilogy, namely ‘Iguana’ and ‘Komodo’. Komodo notched Picotto another chart hit, entering at Number 11, as well as a performance on Top Of The Pops. Mauro was the first DJ to ever play live on the show – this coupled with the release of the groundbreaking singles pushed Mauro out as the highest charting Italian DJ’s to enter the DJ magazine top 100 poll and as a beacon for the emerging trance scene.

In 2001 he embarked upon a change of direction, sound and eclecticism, leaving Media records and creating Bakerloo and the label Alchemy. His productions would vary in genres from dance to trance, the most sophisticated techno to an evolution of all that is homemade music. It is this ethos that Mauro prides himself on when producing and mixing – a true, un-altered music fan in its purest sense.

‘I used to play 6-hr sets at Gatecrasher’ Mauro explains ‘but I began to grow up and the generation of people I was playing to was growing up with me. I began to make the transition into techno because it felt right and I loved the music.”

Two artist albums, ‘The Double Album’ and ‘The Others’, came next, in 2000 and 2002 respectively, as well as remixes and productions for the likes Freddie Mercury, Jimmy Sommerville, Pet Shop Boys and U2. Unfortunately it didn’t take long for other producers to start to cash in on the Picotto sound and soon everybody was chowing on his tough, uncompromising style. Having paid his dues, and notching up a string of hits, it was time for Picotto’s metamorphosis from trance star to sub-cultural techno superhero to begin.

In 2003 Mauro Picotto created Meganite – Electronic Music Lifestyle – a successful club party linked to the best DJs at the time. For the Meganite event top artists known today as Chris Liebing, Marco Carola and Adam Beyer all played alongside Mauro as Meganite resident DJs. Since the very beginning, the selection of artists chosen for Meganite has been of the highest quality for an evening mainly based on innovative electronic music, a cocktail of pure energy and emotion. Meganite stormed on its debut at the Winter Music Conference in Miami, further cementing Mauro’s reputation as a world class trance DJ and highly revered dance music figureheads around. ‘My music doesn’t go on the radio” comments Mauro, ‘but it does make people dance and that is what I aim for.”

With Meganite now a fond and close memory, Mauro has moved the idea of the party to the White Isle Clubbing mecca, Space, for a new party in conjunction with the club called ‘Come Together’. As the name suggests, we can expect a mixture of electronic house to techno and everything else in between.

Aside from a responsibility to deliver danceable anthems he also supports a family and three children who he dotes on whole-heartedly; it’s a responsibility that is close to his heart.
“To do what you like, to make you feel good and be better than before is so important to me. My family comes first, and then the rest. My family is most important to me. I love being a DJ, but now I have children I have to balance it all.”

Mauro’s skills at balancing his life seem successful, as he looks to concentrate his efforts on building up the Picotto name and as a producer / artist in his own right by releasing his fifth Solo album in a career that spans 20 years. The new album will see an 80 Minute live mix, with a bonus disc of 8 exclusive and never released productions. Mauro will also lift a single each month off the album, as well as touring and manning new parties in Ibiza and beyond. Watch this space for further details.

BIOGRAPHY:

At only 22years old, D.O.D has achieved things that other aspiring DJs could only imagine. His hardworking, non-stop approach to DJing has finally paid off with D.O.D receiving a huge two page spread in October issue of leading dance magazine MIXMAG. This was following on from being crowned ‘Mixmag / Blackberry / Don’t Stay In - DJ 2010’ which led to becoming Mixmag’s resident for the week in Ibiza conquering the likes of Ibiza Rocks, Pukka Up Boat Parties & and Reclaim The Dancefloor pre parties warming up for Annie Mac as he brought his unique, in your face turntable wizardry performing a mix of House, Techno, Electro, Breaks, Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Hip-Hop, Indie with lots of accapellas thrown in, as he firmly rocked the White Isle.

D.O.D is considered one of the most exciting new talents to come from dance music. His impressively ludicrous style of DJing can only be described as ‘Jump-Up Electro with the Unexpected’ with the talent to showcase his performances using 3-4 CDJ'S, DJM800 an EFX1000/Kaoss Pad 3 to create his unique sounds. His main room edits have been taking clubs by storm, giving a large majority of his tracks that little something different, making every set unique.

D.O.D has recently been signed to one of the country’s hottest new indie labels, ‘Gash Digital’. With various tracks and remixes already released and his debut EP ‘No Smoke’ due for release at the end of December, 2010 has been a very busy year for the rising star. Two of his tracks on the forthcoming EP are being supported and played by house legend, Laurent Garnier. On the production front, like with his style of DJing, D.O.D breaks the rule-book and doesn’t stick to one genre of music. This open-minded attitude allows D.O.D to produce and remix anything from house, to hip-hop, to drum and bass, to dubstep, electro, breaks or even old party tunes.

D.O.D is resident and co-promoter for some of the hottest club nights in the North of England such as ‘FWAP!’ a very diverse monthly club night at 53 Degrees in Preston. ‘Lancaster Loves’ at The Sugarhouse, again a very diverse club night which has a ‘no holds barred’ approach to the acts they book and the musical direction they go with. These residencies enable D.O.D to play alongside the biggest artists in the industry, and just this year alone he has DJ’d with the likes of Annie Mac, Kissy Sell Out, Chase & Status, DJ Yoda, Pendulum, KraftyKuts, Plump DJs, Scratch Perverts, Grooverider, Shy FX, N-Type, Doorly, Benga, Rusko, Faithless, T.C, Example, The Cuban Brothers, The Whip + Many More. D.O.D has gained praise from some of the industry greats such as the Mixmag editors, Mistajam, Kissy Sell Out, Netsky, Freemasons and Grooverider; all of them commenting on his enthusiastic and energetic nature behind the decks along with his precise but inventive use of CDJs. Leading on from Kissy Sell Out's kind comments, D.O.D will be featured on his Radio 1 show on the 18th November. D.O.D will have a ten minute mix on Kissy's show - A massive achievement for such a young artist.

D.O.D’s ability to play so many different styles of music has seen him become one of the most interesting and inventive DJs to hear, and watch for a long time. Whether he’s playing a House warm up set, a pumping House and Techno peak time set, a Dubstep and Drum and Bass set or even and all out student mash-up frenzy.

Witness the turntable wizardry for yourself!D.O.D is a DJ that must be seen first-hand, and not to be missed.

Both the first two mixes are phenomenal. Crazy P's mix is bouncy and bumpy, and Blamma Blamma just ups the ante! More bounce, more bump, and a little bit of swagger on top. Super! Seriously though, when you post the mixes up, continue to post a download link for each of them please!! Much as I would love to, I can't cram your website into my mp3 player to take it with me!

Thank you for continuing to provide stellar mixes every week! This contest is gonna be interesting, to be sure!!
