I'm probably being stupid here and really don't want to piss on anyones parade but hasn't there already been some sort of little Mars rover thingy up there taking photo's and beaming them back for the last 10 years or so?

If so, what is so spectacular about this one? Does it have air con, is it carrying Buzz Lightyear or is Speilberg directing it?

They may have taken satellite pictures but not landed as far as i know.
