Hi! I'm 20 years old and live in chelmsford. A venue which would be really good is a classic dance anthems night/house & trance night. I know that chelsmford is difficult to place music wise and as a junior DJ its hard to choose the right night. But for the people of chelmsford who want to relive their old days or for those (like me and loads of my friends) who love 90's house and trance classics, why not have a night dedicated to that? As a clubber its sad to say this doesn't exist in chelmsford. I'm currently at university of portsmouth and I can say down here its very different, they know how to throw a party! :)

If you do go ahead with this you will be the FIRST bar to actually play this and will attract loads of customers ranging from 18-30. I'm currently working at wetherspoons in chelmsford at the Ivory peg and I know staff who agree with me. So lets re-live those moments and bring back classics like "Castles in the sky" "Rapture" and "Operation blade" where clubbers can really leave a venue with a smile on their face. :)

Regards,
Andrew Damzen.

Classic is a creation of the highest excellence. Normally made by Pioneers in their trade. Legends are the people that made these tunes. Legends in their field. A status based or reputation.

Classic tunes can never be recreated and were normally the first tune of that type in that Genre.Or characteristic of a form or system felt to be of first significance before modern times.

I am assuming this is what you mean when you say classics and you are not just basing it on the fact that you are playing old dance tunes that were once popular?

I understand where your coming from, your right. But surely it would be good to relight those fires and once again play some older dance songs which many people remember. From a trance prospective these songs were only a few of the older generation of songs which make up todays selection of dance music. An evolution if you will. I'm simply saying lets play these songs once again, music theory aside.

Don't get me wrong I am not knocking it, just using the correct definition. There is a market for all sorts of musical taste, you are aiming to fill a gap and good luck to you. I hope it all goes well.

Thanks, its a long shot but i'm very passionate about my music and won't stop trying till i'm an old man who can no longer rock in his wheelchair. Therefore I got a good while! hehe. But no I want to take up DJing and want this to happen... *sigh*

Lloyds used to be about house on a saturday night. Chris Cee used to DJ there every week (and i would guest on occasions when i was free) and it was strictly house all night. A new manager came in over a year and a half ago and got rid of him cos he thought that cheese would work! Obviously didn't!!! Be good to see house back in the venue again as Lloyds does have a good soundsystem (when its working properly). I do feel there is a massive need for dance music in chelmsford and for a bar to be different and stick its neck out gets my approval!

Defo! I agree, a bar which ventures into dance just for one night would attract alot of custom.

Like 'the bar', Baroosh and the hotel at the top of the highstreet, sorry can't remember it's name that are all doing house/electro (which, incidently is house).

Correct no trance anywhere. Not my cup of tea but people must like it still.

Yeah, I can see why clubs won't play it, its not mainstream plus they always link it with drug taking even though thats not the case, guess theres london hehe. But yeah maybe a small venue in chelmsford just see if it work would be ideal, if not fair play it didn't work but on the other hand could be quite sucessful as i know lots of people who would love it. :)

hi just thought i'd add in, intresting banter!!!

all i can say is that one of my best friends owns the record shop in basildon. I help out sometimes and never ever get asked for trance!!

Lots of place do house, all the one mentioned plus elan or whatever it's turned into now, acient nights that new club fusion, decadence in dukes and basement have nights on 2! oh and that new twentys club!!!

plus don't forget any concenious clubber has London on there doorstep!

I love my house but don't think lloyds is that good a venue for it. Is it still weatherspoons??

We have started a night in southend at bar bluu only small but we try n do some decor make it a bit different! more of an event! Budget is tight but we do our best.

check out regulars group!

I run a label as well under the same night. If any one wants us to come play we can right across the board from uk g to electro min!!

we are chelmsford based as well so can do reall good rates in this area!!
