kef q-series were always really good.

great for mixing too. the tweeter is mounted in the middle of the bass driver so they work well wherever you stand, or sit.

kef.com

at that sort of money any of the pro/bar/dj speakers will have pretty poor sound quality so you are better off with hifi speakers from kef, B&W mission, mordaunt short etc.

gemini amps are not great either. you don't need a PA amp at home so you might be better off selling it and getting a hifi amp from arcam, denon, marantz etc.

make sure you have a good listen to a few first - trust your own ears....

good luck.

Kefs are great have those for the home cinema, but for studio/djin at home I use Alesis M1Active MKII
You get great sound they are reference monitors and they are active ie they have amps in them.

Peavey Pro15 & DA500. (ex Display )

The speakers are 300 watts RMS / 600 watts program with 15" bass drivers, compression tweeters for great vocal quality and top hat fittings for optional speaker stands (below). The Warrior Audio DA500 power amp is fan cooled, pushes out 250 watts per channel and has Speakon or Jack outputs. This amazing sounding kit is ex showroom display but has not been connected up so is in mint condition, fantastic value for money ideal for mobile disco and karaoke use and comes complete with 6 metre speaker cables and even the cable from your mixer to amp!!

why would the guy want PA speakers like the SRM 450s and the Peaveys for a HOME set up??

Id say work out how loud u want it, and then go for the QUALITY in that sound range...I agree with Beexwax and the other DJs on here recomending either good hi-fi or studio monitors...you really don't need long throw bass drivers and horn compression like you get in PA speakers, they are for loudness over distance, not fidelity in the near/midfield range...

Speakers Ive heard that Ive liked tho don't own them are.... Kefs and Alesis

cos you can do your own gigs with them and no venues have hi fi speakers so getting use to more powerful speakers will be better , the quality is still very good . he is only using them for dj not producing
