Future of Lakota.
For those that don't know tomorrow is judgement day for Lakota.

It's tomorrow that Bristol City Council look at the latest planning application to demolish lakota and build flats instead.

Unfortunately unlike previous applications the recommendation for this one means it's likely to be passed. Which means Lakotas days will be very numbered. The document from the planning dept. Is linked below and makes interesting but depressing reading.

bristol.gov.uk

RIP Lakota. Lets make the most of the months that are left!

have to say that i have not bin to lakota in a lil while :( but i am absolutly gutted at this news. lakota is one of my ALL time fave clubs amd i have had some of the BEST nights of my life in that place!

What pisses me off is that EVERY single place that holds special memorys to me seem to be getting shut down by the council or some other force. look at country club, now taht place was legendary and that too held some very very special memorys for me and that too got shut down!

this country is going from bad to fucking worse and i thin k the government need to take a good long hard look at it and realise that we ravers are friendly people taht simply want to stomp there fooking asses off.when have they ever known us to bomb places or to rape people or to burgle places???? you get more trouble in one pub on a saturday night than you do at most raves put together!!!

R.I.P lakota :( very sad times ahead for us!!

It's not a matter of 'got closed down' the council aren't trying to shut it down. Lakota has been running at a loss for the past 7 years and the owners can't keep paying for us to rave. It's the same at other venues too. The people who own them aren't making enough money to keep them open as rave venues, they get much more money from other things.

If the council wanted to shut them down they simply wouldn't grant the entertainment licenses, which isn't the case.

I wonder how much it would cost to buy...

If they've been running at a loss, then i'm sure it wouldn't be over priced?

It would be over priced, because the value of the land is in it's potential to do exactly what they're doing. Knocking it down and building flats.

It's not just lakota, it's that whole area with the car park and church buildings behind it. They own it all and it's all being redeveloped. I'd be surprised if it's worth less than £1M.
