Arsenal in crisis!
Flamini gone for free, Hleb leaving for £3m - absolutely terrible news for Arsenal. Flamini can probably be replaced, as his main asset is his workrate, but that combined with Hleb going, one of our star performers this season, is a huge blow.

Wenger simply has to open up the chequebook this summer and spend big. With two first teamers leaving, and the need for at least three new players even if the squad had stayed together, I would say that £60-70m must be spent to ensure top four status next season.

On the shopping list must be a defensive midfielder, centre back and winger(s). Wenger has to put his ego aside for a moment and realise that some of the current squad aren't up to it. If there is money to spend, he needs to be making moves for players now.

I read that today too. Do you think Wenger will payout for players? Has he ever?

Eboue should be sold. That cunt is a liability for us.

I really hope he gets hit by a car. A lot of the Arsenal fans on 606 are playing it down saying we don't need either of them, but the fact is we fell short at the last hurdle with those two in the team. I really feel that keeping them and improving the squad players would have meant a title challenge. Now we are faced with yet more "rebuilding".

Bring in the minted Russians!

Who's the highest earner at Arsenal and what are they on?

The tight git is gonna have to cough up for a couple of players now surely. Denilson and a few of the other youngsters showed a few moments of quality in the cup but he can't try and blag his way through another season like that can he?

I think it's Fabregas and Gallas both on about £75k a week.

Yeah Yeah

Arsenal are ALWAYS in meltdown each season, when a couple of players leave, i wont get my hopes up that they actually are just yet

As for Wenger spending big, cant see it happening, but you will have a few long term injuries returning at the start of the season? eduardo? rosicky? plus the usual 50000 unknowns that come good!

he's only spent £18m since 2004. Its a shame because Wenger gives other club managments the idea that they can do the same. With Abramovitch looking at shelling out £50m on Kaka, or £85m on Messi, and Real threatening to offer £95m on C. Ronaldo people have to realise that Wenger is a genius and that no one who was "the worlds best player" (i.e. Vieira, Henry, Anelka etc.) has really gone on to greatness after Arsenal.

Wenger has the ability to eek the very best out of his players. Flamini and Hleb are idiots but the massive gunners go marching on. This time should be called "who's making massive silly bids for Arsenal players"...

Agreed 100%. Although the likes of Denilson, Song, Djourou Hoyte etc have shown promise, I'm beginning to wonder if they will ever be good enough to step up to the first team.

I wouldn't call one FA cup and a couple of fourth places in the last four years as 'massive'

jack, I agree with what you're saying mate. But whilst Wenger has always pulled it out the hat in the past, looking at the team next season, without Hleb and Flamini, there isn't enough quality there to challenge.

I read somewhere that Wenger had a strict wage structure £55,000 P/W which he wouldnt break - that being the reason Flamini left? Could just be paper talk though. I think Wenger is too stubborn for his own (and Arsenals) good at times.

yes but he has got a massive war chest allegedly. as a player i'd be happier to leave portsmouth or tottenham for arsenal than newcastle.
