Arsenal in crisis!
Flamini gone for free, Hleb leaving for £3m - absolutely terrible news for Arsenal. Flamini can probably be replaced, as his main asset is his workrate, but that combined with Hleb going, one of our star performers this season, is a huge blow.

Wenger simply has to open up the chequebook this summer and spend big. With two first teamers leaving, and the need for at least three new players even if the squad had stayed together, I would say that £60-70m must be spent to ensure top four status next season.

On the shopping list must be a defensive midfielder, centre back and winger(s). Wenger has to put his ego aside for a moment and realise that some of the current squad aren't up to it. If there is money to spend, he needs to be making moves for players now.

I'm grateful that I don;t support a club that is languishing in mid table mediocrity every season or battling relegation.

Yeah, me too :S

Its a sure fire way to cause friction!

I'm pretty sure that was the problem with Flamini. He's probably thinking "hang on I worked just as hard as those guys last season" (maybe even harder considering his work rate) "and I was an integral part of the team why am I not earning at least as much as they are?"

If you were working somewhere and the guy sat at the desk next to you that did that same thing as you or maybe slightly less wouldn't you be pissed if you found out he was earning £20k a year more than you?

It's different at Liverpool where no club would have 9 of your players

yes, because none of our players would walk into the Arsenal 1st 11 *yawn*

Tee, we are over £300 million in debt mate, what the fuck do you want the man to do!? the wage structure is there for a reason!

I understand that fella but then he can't moan if players get upset because two of their players have broken said wage structure.

fair point ya!

Still he's only a first team regualr for one season, he is at the club who play the best football in Europe, although havn't won anything!

Why leave over more money? Why? You arre at the centre of something beautiful! Why fuck off elsewhere?

I really do think he'll regret it!

Its hard to have symapthy for him when you're talking the kinds of money that he was offered, but you can see where he's coming from. We're having a similair situation with Steven Taylor - Milner and N'zogbia are reportedly of £45,000 P/W and other players who allardyce signed are on more than that, whereas Taylor has only been offered £35,000 P/W which he turned down. Now for me, him being a local lad, he should have signed that contract without a second thought but at the same time I can understand him wanting to at least equal Milners and N'zogs wages.

Better players get paid more. I wonder if he'll be upset next year as he's worked as hard as Kaka but is getting paid 50k a week less?

Gerrard and Torres withstanding...

Reina - shit, won the golden gloves again, really shit
Alonso - cant pass a ball for toffee, well shit
Mascherano - well overrated, not one of the best defensive midfielders in the world

I could go on but those 3 alone would walk into most sides in the world.

He might. As was stated earlier if he's left for football reasons he'll regret it as it'll be a lot tougher to break into the team with Gattuso ahead of him (then again he is 30 now so Flamini has age on his side) but if he went to take advantage of a good offer that he may never get again I'm sure he won't regret a thing.

At the end of the day mate it's his job, not a hobby. £20k a week is a big difference.

Mascherano

couldnt get into our side last year ;)

Alonso wouldn't get into any decent side, like he doesn't get into the Liverpool one. Only Torres and Gerrard would get in the Arsenal side.

Well that's open to opinion and I'm not about to argue that point. The point is though that he worked just as hard as those to and was arguable just as important to the team as they were. Sure he was banging in goals like Cesc was or throwing strops like Gallas was but he had an important part to play in the team. In his eyes therefore he should be on equivalent money. Not to mention the fact tha he's actually been with the club longer than Gallas has as well.

I doubt very much he'd have much to say if Kaka is getting 5 times more than him, not many players could.

Hmm. I guess its hard for you guys to get what im saying having probs not seen it from my point of view.

I would just mention that things can change quickly - back in 2001 Leeds, having not finished outside the top 5 for eight years, suddenly became a club in crisis. They sold their best players and failed to qualify for the Champions League, and the rest is history.

That's bull. Reina and Mascherano would easily get into that side. Especially considering they now need a defensive midfielder AND a keeper.

We'll throw in Pennant as well to replace Hleb for a laugh lol.

Then he should realise that Cesc and Gallas are being paid more because, like Kaka, they are more talented than him. I'm sorry but I agree with Arsene and don't believe Flamini, who is essentially just a try hard, is worth more than £55k a week. Gutted about Hleb though.

Joking aren't you? Reina is dogshit - he can't even cover his near post and makes nearly as many errors as Robinson.
