Approaching 30, and over 30-something laaaadies
Hello ladies...... and nosey men.

Are you almost 30 or over 30? Haven't had any snotty brats yet? Are you scared you may be leaving it to late?

My problem is I don't feel ready to have children at all by a long shot. And quite frankly, I'm scared of the whole process. The idea of a bunch of foreign cells formulating and growing inside me like a little Ridley Scott Alien is quite petrifying. Pushing something resembling a sack of spuds through the eye of the needle really isn't motivating any enthusiam to want to. Bone dislocating, skin ripping....forceps.....doctors arm rammed up you and thrashing about like he's delivering a calf. Oor having it cut out of you *faints*

I'm so used to just being me, without an Alien scuttling around, who's going to be half of which ever cretin you copulate with. Poor thing.

My quandary is, do you ladies worry that one day you will realise its too late? Does it even matter if you miss the boat? When is a good time to procreate, if ever?

Haha, do women always shit themselves when they give birth? If I was female I'd go for a C-section every time.

Disagree - I think I'd rather shit myself than have weeks of recovery from fairly major surgery... C section never looks like an easy option to me Tom!

I don't want my own kids yet, my sister has two young nephews, so basically I have an excuse to buy them presents that I want to play with, without having the hassle of dealing with shitty nappies. I am counting down the years till the oldest reaches five, so I can get him a fuckin massive Scalextric!

Again it all depends on the person with recovery , they advise you refrain from anything strenuous for 6 weeks, they even advise you not to lift a kettle or an iron for 2 weeks, yet i was back at work 5 weeks after my son and 2 weeks after my daughter and had c-sections with both of them.

But yes you are right it is major surgery, i dont think you even think about shitting yourself during labour your more concerned with the pain.

Hmm.. I wont have kids then if this is the case.. as I'll only have them when I'm ready!

I think you can only be ready to a certain extent in terms of preparing yourself mentally and being in a different mindset to the one that many of us are in now. I'm starting to make that transition in that I'm getting more and more happy chilling with my missus than I am going out and getting obliterated from Thursday through to Sunday (or sometimes Monday morning on the wrongest weekends). I'm no where near the stage of being ready to make a start on having a family but I can see that in a few years time I will be there. Even having said that I still won't know how I'll cope with it but at least I'll be prepared and up for the challange!

I don't think you can ever be ready for children

We do want to do it properly now so there'll be the wedding first. But we both feel ready, so yes you can be.

But I guess it works different for everyone else, and some people choose not to go that route whereas others take a wrong exit and end up being on that track before they realised they were ready.

Life can take funny turns that way, I know that when we got a trail run at the whole thing when I got pregnant unplanned. We did then decide to go for it even tho we weren't ready yet, we didn't want to abbort for that reason.

Only I had a miscarrrigae very early on, befopre 3 months in. Which was not nice at the time but we soon leraned it's just nature''s way and I have absolute peace with it and am comforted alreday knowing a little bit about what changes with your body and your life in general. I just wish I got to keep the boobs after, I got the most beautifull pair haha,.

Next time it will be for real, and it taught me so much about what I wanted and what kind of man Guido is ... he's fantsatic, I am a very very lucky girl. So I then learned it is what I wanted really. I guess sometimes things do happen for a reason, it sure helped us get to where we are now...

Why is that doing it properly?

It's traditional, but do people see this as necessary? i.e will a kid with married parents have a better life than one who's parents are not?

It's old fashioned values in today's eyes but that's something I'd aspire to myself. I'd like to be married for at least a year before trying for kids so that we've had time to settle into our marriage and enjoy ourselves before we move on to the next step.

Well it won't be a bastard for a start.

Not necessarily I think something like that is down to personal choice and beliefs.

I still don't get that.... If I've been with someone for a few years... what's another year "married" going to do that the previous years didn't?

Nothing essentially but like I also said it's down to personal choice and beliefs. I personally would prefer to call someone I've been with for years "my wife" rather than "my girlfriend" or "my partner". That's just the way I feel.

Am I right in thinking that you're nearing 40 TJ?
