This Summer, the Cosmic Ballroom becomes the home of 2 collaborative events of previousy unimaginable proportions.

Our first installment sees The Summer Meltdown Part I play host to the legendary TOBY TOBIAS (Rekids, Tiny Sticks), as well as being the official Launch Event for his new Album 'Space Shuffle' on Rekids.

Rekids recently celebrated its 2 year anniversary, and in its brief history it has gone from strength to strength working with the likes of Radio Slave, Mr. G, Luke Solomon, Spencer Parker, Kenny Hawkes, plus remixes by the likes of Prins Thomas, Rob Mello, Claude Von Stroke, Marcel Dettman and many more.

‘Space Shuffle’ is Rekids second album and showcases Tobias’s ability to draw on so many influences and use the essence of each to make his own unique sound is not only his strongest quality but also a very rare one. His slower disco output has just the same strength of depth and groove as Lindstrøm, Terje, Fulton or DFA. His housier tracks are full of soul and character and would slide into any DJ set by Dixon or Amé. He loves spacey techno and is a massive fan of Carl Craig, Francois K and Ray Mang, all of which is obvious. There’s also a wonderful Balearic thread that runs throughout Space Shuffle, an album that couldn’t be more aptly titled. It’s music for the mind, body and soul.

Add to this a rare appearance outside of digital for Newcastles Hottest Property, Wax:On Residents PEOPLE GET REAL, making their Cosmic Ballroom debut.

Plus, local success story and 'ones to watch' in 08, 'EXHIBIT A' continue their tour of Newcastles finest underground venues by hosting the second floor. Starting life in Ibiza as a workers party, Exhibit A has rapidly made a name for itself in its new home of Newcastle. Expect uncompromising House & Techno.

Finally, we welcome ILLUMINATI residents 'The Redford Twins' to complete our 'DreamTeam' Lineup. Fresh from supporting the likes of ChickenLips, Reverso 68 and Phoreski, these guys are stalwarts of the local scene, be prepared for Dark Disco and Warm Techno.

was gonna come down to this but nobody was playing out and i've got to be up for edinburgh in 5 n a half hours.....word on the street is that the Space Shuffle album is top notch :-)
