Dave i have been reading your pages for a long time, And found you to be very informative with all your advice.
I have never seen you take sides and you seem to take each subject with an open mind until you find out the facts.

Inside the profile page of slimmatt is a script, that loads when a user looks at slim`s profile page.
What the script dose, as DaveB will tell you .in its simple terms it, reads your IP address.
Then it sends that address to their Name lookup server. Then it campers it to their database, to find out who your ISP is. Then it will display the result saying something like this.
Hello user You IP address is 82.23.22.22. And you’re on Telewest. Something likes that.
So if you think about it, changing some setting and the ip address of theirs server to mine in the script maybe removing the display, so when my server dose not return a lookup. Thus giving me a Red X somewhere in my profile page.

So this is one way.
Incorrect. other way around. Your ISP Tries to keep you with the same Ip Address, because it is more common for people to run web Servers , and any other server they so wish, without having to log in to your demand Name supplier page and redirect your page to a new IP address
Also if you have the same address all the time, It makes it easy to be traced if you have been a bit silly. This is Broadband not dialup.
You get your Ip address from your Mac of your modem, and the Mac of you PC or router.
If you are on a DOCSYS system. You have 2 IP address and 2 Mac Address. Wan and lan.
Yes that’s the old way, because i would get ,to many IP Address coming up with every one looking. Including the Robots.
Its easy just to hide something in a mp3. Sample. Eve one downloads a sample of someone’s demo mixes. .
Has anyone ever downloaded a film or Mp3. Only to find it needs a codec. When some people click yes to look for codec, its really going back to the mother ship With your IP and all your download directory, listings.
