‘Chav it up’ – exclaims PLAY! head honcho Grayson Shipley - ‘we did our first “PLAY! Chav Party” 3 years ago and it was literally our favourite ever fancy dress theme’.

As a concept it’s pretty much a no brainer, just chuck on the nearest Kappa tracksuit, polish your signet rings and come as your favourite person from Southmead.

PLAY residents; Deepgroove have been honing their travel skills since their last Bristol set. 5 trips to Ibiza, plus Switzerland, Amsterdam and Ireland and many hangovers later we have the delight of these international party daemons back in their home city! –

Sunday July 6th saw them make their debut in the Discoteca @ Space, for ‘We Love…’ They rocked it so hard Ivan Smagge even clapped them off!

Headlining the evening is good friend and Deepgroove’s new production partner Cagedbaby. They’ve been playing together a lot lately including gigs at Glastonbury & Bloom festival

This year Cagedbaby have released some absolute stonkers on ‘Southern Fried’ (Fatboy Slim’s label) – plus his band has a cracking album on the go which they having been touring to rapturous responses.

Warming up the evening is the freshly baptised Fruity Antics Resident Lukas. Luke hails from Cornwall but has been musically shaped in Bristol; in the past couple of years he has release records on German imprint ‘Players Paradise’ not to mention putting on some of the biggest house dance music bashes in Bristol with his Buoyancy crew. We are very excited about his PLAY debut!

Upstairs we have ‘Night Fever’ back to bring the 70’s style disco back into the town

The afterparty – for all its wrongfulness, is at the tube with new play afterparty resident JT taking to the helm as always loads of fancy dress, debauchery & late night special guests

We are also reducing the door admission for the wallet stretching month of August and PLAY! Devotee’s can buy advance tickets for the bargain price of £5.
