Someone with an axe to grind methinks - dodgy anonymous tip off, or someone with influence. Makes no sense with no other clubs being done.

Anyone know if it was busy when raided? 12.30am Friday night/Saturday morning seems early if they were trying to really get a few people?

Pacha was striped and searched for drugs and found to be clean

uk.reuters.com :
Police raided Pacha nightclub -- self-styled as the world's most historic club -- early on Saturday morning and during a search of over 200 people discovered 100 pills, 30 wraps of white powder and six wraps of brown paper discarded in the club.

Quite some disparity between those two statements....

Hence the link

not sure bout that buckers. surely the fuzz would do some undercover work before sending the heavies in. They must have thought they had grounds to commit such resources before raiding with such 'enthusiasm'

The public statement by the club is always going to say that they are vigilant and do their best.

It's not going to say "sorry to everyone who managed to hide their drugs from us when we casually searched you and who had to then ditch them in the raid" now is it?

It is a shame that the police did not inform Pacha of their intentions

in all fairness, thats not a huge amount, i.e it hardly sounds like someone who was serving up big style, if thats what they found across 200 people.

XI
Sounds like the Westminster Council aren't too pleased with a club pushing Techno nights in their region. Seems a bit strange that less than a month after Pacha have launched their rebranding they get hit with a raid. When they've operated for years with their previous music policy without any trouble.

People are listening to techno so they all must be on drugs! It's the small minded mentality of people that have no clue which is trying to disrupt the London Clubbing Scene

New music = new crowd, so I maybe they just wanted it to make it clear to the new attendees that they won't be a pushover? It's all speculation anyway since it sounds like the club don't know why it happened (or don't want to say).

They cannot. They can stop, search and detain people they suspect of possession or the supply of drugs under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.

yeah, but they still have the right to raid clubs etc, i'm completely with half bear on this. at the end of the day possessing drugs is illegal, whether you like it or not, its against the law, so why do people get so angry about it?
