Pacha would like to apologise to anybody that attended the venue last night and was subjected to what must have been a frightening experience that was taken out by the Metropolitan police.

On Saturday 20th at 00.30am Pacha was raided by uniformed riot police officers with dogs and with full support from Westminster licensing department, this is a missive shock to the management and staff of the club as we have worked closely with Belgravia police and never had reason to believe we had a dru...

yeah, but they still have the right to raid clubs etc, i'm completely with half bear on this.
Absolutely - this is covered under the said act. Wasn't attempting to detract from the rights of the Police - merely pointing out that the Police simply cannot 'do what they like'.. Anyone with something to hide gets uppity over a search... anyway back to topic

Westminister 'We don't want those East London junkie types in our borough' ? Although, would a council know the difference between crowds?

Is it not possible they indiscriminately raid high-profile venues in an attempt to be seen to be policing these places and not giving in to the "war on drugs" (in George Bush voice) ?

Police raided Pacha nightclub -- self-styled as the world's most historic club -- early on Saturday morning and during a search of over 200 people discovered 100 pills, 30 wraps of white powder and six wraps of brown paper discarded in the club.

That was probably everyone in the club at that time of night then lol

Police do raids on loads of clubs so why should Pacha be any different. Not nice for the punters but then if you had no drugs on you then you had nothing to fear. The Police are just driving home a message really and makes punters think before they smuggle drugs in next time ..... Which for a nightclub is bad news as Dance music and drugs go hand in hand. The knock on effect may be that Pacha could suffer for a while as some, like the 200 punters that had gear, may stay away for a while.

Surely they must have some idea. They must now the difference between a funky house crowd and a techno crowd. They must of been informed of it somewhere along the line. As the press release from Pacha says they have a close working relationship with the council

You get to put a blue light on your car and the city suddenly transforms into your own personal Monaco Grand Prix, you get drugs for free, you even get a stab-vest so you can leave a nightclub in Brixton at 3am without dying...

Not for the quote, I just wanted to compliment you on your choice of name. Very apt considering the subject of this thread.
