Eric Prydz Review - Disappointing
First of all fair play to Syndicate on rebooking Prydz in Bristol again. Unfortunately that is about the only good thing I can say about the night.

About 15 of us arrived at the syndicate about half eleven after a fancy dress party so we were all suitably adorned in various hats, wigs and taches as this was the theme. Luckily we hadn’t missed the start of Prydz and Dan Masey was knocking out some quality house and techno as always. To be honest I much preferred what Dan was playing to what was to come and he finished on The Reward is Cheese by Deadmau5 which is one of my favourites! I advise anyone to check out any of the “New City Sound” nights that Dan is involved with for a good night of quality music!

By this stage of the evening the club was suitably busy especially on the dance floor which was pretty packed.

The night went down hill from here unfortunately. This was down to two reasons. The first was the over zealous security in the club. On entry to the club we had a bit of banter with the staff on the door and they said it was fine to wear out hats, costumes etc in the club. Unfortunately once inside the venue some over zealous crowd control staff in yellow bibs felt the need to continuously tell us to take off our wigs and hats. He did this in a rude and unprofessional manner citing fire safety as a reason for this. I can’t think of any occasions when a top hat has caused a fire and can’t ever see it causing one in the future. This member of staff was rude and arrogant and was basically abusing his power when all we wanted to do was have fun. Such a shame as he ruined the night for many members of our party who decided to leave. Such a shame especially as the original door staff had been so nice and he had just tarnished their reputation in our eyes.

This was especially true as whilst he was having a go at us for having fun, underage chavs seemed to be scrapping all around us but he was more concerned with the dangers associated with an afro wig. Unbelievable. For this reason alone most of our party will never return to the Syndicate regardless of who is dj'ing. Which is a shame as they do book some good djs.

The next poor point was Eric Prydz. He is one of my all time favourite djs and I had been looking forward to his set immensely. However it was very average at best and boring at worst. The first hour plodded along aimlessly and he seemed to completely drain the energy the crowd had from the dance floor. He picked it up a little more in the second half but again I felt completely dissatisfied by his set which was very disjointed and didn’t seem to flow. The only tune of note was Calypso by Jay Lumen. He predictably finished on Pjanoo and I for one was quite glad he didn’t play his full advertised 3 hours. Would have preferred to have Dan Masey play for longer instead to be fair.

We decided to leave after Prydz finished as the music seemed to go into classics territory from here which isn’t my thing. The club dance floor also felt suitably empty by the point indicating that I wasn’t the only one to feel short changed by Prydz.

So in all in all a very disappointing night from a DJ who usually delivers. Every DJ has an off day so hopefully this was his. But more importantly the bad customer service we received has left those I was with, with no desire to return to the Syndicate which can only be a bad thing for a club which is trying hard to improve its reputation with the clubbers of Bristol.

Disappointing

So thats Prydz AND Tyas in the same weekend that cut their sets short?

Thats piss poor. I hope that doesn start being a regular thing.
These DJs cost enough to book, they should play the amount of time the clubbers have been told to expect.

I find most bouncers to be ok to be honest just this one guy ruined a night for many of us.

Still it was very poor allround imo except for Dan Masey on warm up duties

Fair play that sounds like my worst nightmare.
I'd rather stick sharpened pencils in my ears.

The only thing more shit than hardcore is hardstyle.

You can fill a club with lounge jazz fans if you play lounge jazz and tell them that its on - it doesnt make it good music, it just means all the idiots who like that shit are in the same place.

never no complaints!

You need more of a grasp of the English language than your average hardcore fan has to type a complaint.

Besides, most of em are too off their tits on pills to construct a sentence in the first place.

hahah, you're totally right. My age is definitely the reason I don't like hardcore.

If "holding onto your youth" is listening to hardcore - may you forever stay 16 my friend.

If we can get to a stage where all the beer boys and hardcore is at Syndicate and everything else is at Motion / Depot then I will be quite happy to not see any big DJs in Bristol and stick to Motion and The Depot.

Hardcore isnt taking over anything other than UK teenagers heads.

The worlds biggest dance events are Trance, Techno and Hardstyle based.

The highest rated DJs in the world play Trance and Techno.
