FACEBOOK banning Users!!!

just thought i would share some information with you all as we know facebook seems to be the in place for peeps to sign up and promote there events, i thought i should bring the following up to warn you all about your conduct and accounts on there site...

i have just been banned from facebook NOT for spamming (surprised ya there hey peeps lol) BUT due to the following reasons.....

Users aren't permitted to maintain an account under the name of their organization, or use personal accounts to advertise or promote themselves professionally. your profile was listed under a non-individual name, or was used primarily for professional promotion

we all do so be warned!!! this is part of a crack down on the site!!!

some of you would say serve ya rite BUT i thought i would atleast do the decent thing and warn peeps on there who use it for promotion and networking!!!

i have now lost over 2,200 Friends and industry contacts and without any word of warning and mainly due to my name NOT being personal

i would very much appreciate it if you could re-add me to your friends list... if you search for GAVIN BARKER you should then see a pic of me lookin like Timmy Mallet lol

so for the many who never knew my real name its Gavin Barker lol

i also have a new email address if peeps would like it please ask via PM

Yeh serves you right is what I say :)

Facebook should be a way of maintaining contact with friends. Not a promotional tool.

They usually transfer the friends you had on that previous account on to a 'fan' page if you ask nicely...

Do you mean you had an actual account under a different name or a group you used? I wish they'd crack down on the promoters who register fake accounts instead but they don't, even when they use a fake profile picture taken from an advert on the site!

no-one really knows me as Gavin Barker my real name, due to my DJ'in the majority of people know me as Funky Toast from Love-bug and the account was not used to spam peeps, it was personal to me, not a fake profile like you see soo many off, no warning just whallop and account disabled

Well done for informing people Gavin :) I think its totally unfair that they do that whats wrong with promoting yourself on a networking site ... as longs as its not spamming anyone....i run my own entertainments aganecy and its a way of networking with all my contcats either promoters or and my staff etc I better change my profiles... again thank you Gavin !!!

thanks hun, i could fully underrstand it if i was spammin the hell out of peeps, i do love-bug events bi-monthly so at the most i invite my friends to the event once every two months, so i feel its a little harsh done by, hence this thread!!!

i totally agree with you its a social networkin site so peeps should able to have as many friends as they like and do a lil self promotion, 90% of the peeps i have met whilst i have been out DJ'in, from school, football and local friends and family!!!

Basically what it is is that they are not earning money out of people promoting their business etc etc im surprised they didnt start charging people instead.... ive got told about this about 4 months ago and i didnt think it was actually going to happen !!!!

i think these new rules have come in to effect since they changed to look to the new facebook application and they now catchin up with back logs and as the profiles pop up!!!

just think of how many DJ's are on there or should i say "Deejay's"
