Dj mag top 100 leaked again
The illustrious DJ Mag Top 100 is a fabled event on the dance music calendar, with DJs young and old jostling with each other for chart contention. Keeping with tradition, it would seem as though the results for the annual poll have once again been leaked on the of their scheduled release, sending forums and message boards into a veritable tizzy as trainspotters pour over the (supposedly legit) list of winners.
Comparing this and last year’s Top 10 reveals no massive change in dominance, with heavy-hitters like Armin van Buuren, Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk, Above & Beyond and Ferry Corsten flexing their euphoric trance muscles in some of the top spots. Yet looking closely at the vanguard of the list reveals a few interesting bits, with club maestro Deadmau5 barging up the list to No.6 and David Guetta tracking higher than ever at No.3, clearly losing no sway with the DJ Mag voters despite crossing over into pop territory this year.
Beyond the top 10 we can see plenty of changes happening, with club mainstays Cosmic Gate and Steve Angello having bumper years, both moving up 43 spots on the list.
Check out the leaked results below – rounded out to a Top 150, no less.

It's nothing to do with DJing, this is a PR competition.

It's all about who can inspire their fans to actually vote. Everyone that's up there are big commercial names. The better underground djs aren't going to be up there because they don't bother wasting their time trying to encourage their fans to vote for them. And the fans of underground music know what a waste of time this poll is, so they don't bother voting.

It's surprises me that people are still surprised by the results

i realise all that, but number 100? for the worlds biggest dnb dj, a scene which is still pretty massive generally, a dj who has been voted no1 dnb dj last 8 years in a row or something... and john b gets above him?

XI - i never expect him to be number 1, but 100 takes the piss.

The thing is though XI is right, alot of people dont bother voting coz it really is a waste of time! a lot of people know how talented andy c is and i am sure he deserves to be a lot higher than where he is! but I reckon most dnb ravers dont even get involved with this vote and stick to the dnb awards instead.

The only people that seem to take this pole seriously are the Trance crowds. Which is why the trance djs are always at the top.

My number 1 pick, Ricardo Villalobos is at number 71. Poles like this that encompass every area of dance music are never any real statement of who's the best because there's some many differing opinions.

Genre specific awards are much more accurate

What makes me laugh is that the people that moan that the poll 'is a waste of time' are normally the same people that don't bother voting and then they're surprised when they see their DJ so far down. If everyone voted it would like quite different. Don't think you'd see much change in the top 5 but there's certainly a few DJs that are higher than you'd expect but as XI pointed out this is because their fans hae voted for them whereas others haven't.

Put into context the DnB scene really isn't that big (globally) compared to other genres. If you look from a basic view of releases per week DnB couldn't hold a torch to House, Techno or Trance. Also again if you look at weekly events which occur in London alone. There would probably be 1 to 3 (DnB events) compared to 10+ for the other genres mentioned above.

Andy C only represents one style of DnB, of which there are many who would question whether he's the best DnB DJ. Whilst I wouldn't question his skill, he hasn't exactly pushed the boundaries much in recent years?

Chris Liebing is lower down the list, and having heard both extensively I'd rate him higher than Andy C
