When does a joke go too far?
Reverse spoon reflection lookalike Rebecca Adlington is calling for former Mock The Week star Frankie Bolye to be punished after he made a joke about her:
"The thing that nobody really said about Rebecca Adlington is that she looks pretty weird. She looks like someone who's looking at themselves in the back of a spoon.

"And then, when she arrived back on the flight she met her boyfriend. Did you see her boyfriend? He was really attractive. He was like a male model. So from that I have deduced that Rebecca Adlington is very dirty – I mean if you just take into account how long she can hold her breath…"

Should the BBC listen to her and start castrating comediens so that they can no longer be funny, or should everyone just realise that it is a joke and get on with their lives?

Udy
If Frankie Boyle was actually funny and all of his jokes didn't follow that precise format then maybe i'd have some sympathy. Maybe comedian that can only get true yuks from direct canings should be castrated. Not from a free speech perspective but more to force them to actually write something better than the average mouthy cunt.

Its observational humour... i bet if she heard a joke about Jordans spastic son looking like a Freddo, she'd laugh her little swimsuit off...

On his DVD he makes a joke about Wayne Rooney but stops halfway through to clarify that he isn't saying Rooney looks like a Monkey, he's sayng that Rooney looks like he has downs syndrome.

Ok, what people are overlooking is that they're taking their cue on what is attractive from a man who barring a change of hair colour is the third Proclaimer brother. She's hardly the prettiest spanner in the tool box, but at the same time he's not exactly male model material either.

End of the day, much worse things have been said about much more famous people. Just because Addlington has done well at sports, people assume she's afforded some kind of untouchable status.

It was the same when that slag Diana died, people weren't allowed to make jokes about her (even though she did get the Liverpool Newcastle match cancelled that day FFS), but does anyone pick up Mock The Week now for their frequent references to Prince Philip organising car accidents in tunnels? No.

This will blow over and she'll become fair game just like everyone else in the public eye.

The BBC should shit in a swimming cap and post it to her.

I don't thihnk that is hyper sensitive. That was a personal joke that was meant to be offensive to her. The spoon thing, nothing wrong with that but then the character slur (if you want to call it that) was different and a bit well, what's the difference between that and walking down the street shouting slapper at strangers.

In her defence it's not like she's been running around trying to jump into the public view, she was pretty much a nobody (excluding medals for doing her job). If anything Frankie Boyle should apologise for giving birth to another Z-list celebrity

I be think people should keep telling jokes like that, just they shouldnt then be offended if someone turns round and says "too far"

She'd never get it!
People need to get a grip, it was only a joke.

Why should she be exempt from a ribbing.

It was no different to seeing an attractive woman with a fat old man who has a aura of peado about him, and commenting that the bloke must either be loaded or have a big willy.

The joke?

It was actually in reference to the post strikes of recent. But I kinda hoped that was obvious! Obviously not.

Well, a big cock would be a bit different but commenting saying they must be a peado could get a complaint and possibly land you in court, depending on how you phrased it maybe

You've never looked at someone and thought to yourself "I'd keep my kids away from him"?
