David Cameron is today expected to change his mouth's appearance from it's usual shit-eating grin to that of a cat's bum when he plops out a few poo nuggets in the form of Conservative policy. His usual policy has so far been "I'm not Gordon Brown..."

William Hague revealed yesterday that it will not be an option to give the UK a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty, despite Cameron making a guarantee that he would give a referendum when he becomes PM.

Eurosceptics seem to have the loudest voice on this issue, so public opinion could be perceived that the UK is mainly against any further European intergration. The problem is that without a referendum, no-one will know for sure the general UK stance.

Should there be a referendum on this? It seems that the only way for there to be any vote on European intergration will whether or not anyone votes for UKIP in the general election.

Awesome shot in the foot there from Cameron. He was relying on Poland and Czech Republic dragging their heels over it until he got into office, and that has backfired massively.

Even The Sun has turned on the Tories today over his 'cast iron guarantee' bollocks.

He does give the impression that he believes it is his divine right and destiny to be Prime minister. Most media outlets give the impression that he could do an interview saying that he doesn't like black people, yet he would still be voted in next year because he isn't Gordon Brown.

LMAO

Worst case this new eu constitution wont make much difference anyway.

Best case the EU leadership a bit more accountable is a good thing, as at the moment they just fuck about for 6 months jizz a load of money up the wall and generally achieve very little

Either way all the citizens in Europe will still feel ignored while politicians pander to media outlets to make themselves look good and which ever company has the most cash

No.

There are far too many fuckwitts in this country that can't actually form an opinion on europe (or anything) themselves, they just repeat verbatim the private agenda driven shite, sandwiched between irrelevant celebrity gossip, that is passed off as news in dailycomics newspapers.

Voter turn out for the last general election was around 60%, which is horrendously low, many countries are >80%. Italy 90%, Australia 95%.

If people can't be arsed to vote at general elections, we shouldn't have referendums.

interesting point of view. although I see your point, I think it might be nice to give the general public a say in what directly affects their lives. If you don't care enough to vote then don't but if you do, you should have the chance. What other way of controlling our government do we have if not voting?

Don't they both have compulsory voting though?
