Stop the press!

First it was Leatherface, then Jason and recently Freddy. Now Michael Bay is teaming up with Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon to revamp the long-awaited “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” remake. Deadline breaks the story:
Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon have brought Michael Bay and his Platinum Dunes partners Brad Fuller and Andrew Form on to produce Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the live-action film that reboots the film series launched by New Line in 1990. Bay, Fuller and Form will produce with Galen Walker and Scott Mednick. The producers will begin meetings with writers in the next few weeks.
Wonder what Shredder will look like.

For those that follow Movie Bob's reviews on escapistmagazine.com I just saw at the end of his 'This Means War' review video that A: there's going to be a new TMNT.. and that B: Micheal Bay, ruiner of The Transformers WILL NOT be directing it.

Entertainment ahoy!

explain the hate for Mr Bay . . .

His transformers films were shit. The robots themselves were fucking ugly, characterless and largely absent from the films and replaced with some totally irrelevant and cringeworthy nerd fantasy about bedding puffy lipped barbie dolls.

The action scenes were terrible, in most situations it was difficult to tell which transformer was doing what to which other transformer. And when you did see something happen (jazz getting ripped in half for instance) there was no emotional connection to them whatsoever because they weren't humaised in anyway.

The one opportunity they really had to cement a relationship between man and machine was Sam and Bumblebee's relationship, which they totally destroyed by making the robot mute. What the fuck for?! Its just lazy script writing. Trying to make BB seem like a dog or something? Playing the cute card? Fuck knows.

In the second movie Sam has a new unfeasibly attractive and rich girlfriend, who makes him lock wheelie and theotherone out on the balacony. When he lets them in they say "tell her we're not toys, or your pets, we're genius alien beings from another world" Well where's the evidence for that? Every single one of them was a slapstick characature, with a few exceptions at the top end, eg. Megatron and Optimus both of whom were utterly one dimensional in other ways.

I could really go on all day about how fucking awful those films were.

Agreed.

Surprised Bay didn't try and shoehorn sexual positions into the script as Decepticon names - Piledriver. Wheelbarrow. Reacharound.

Then there was the inclusion of 'Skids & Mudflap'... for me at least, that was the moment Bay lended the film the real 'Jar-Jar Binks' kiss of death.

I mean, look at the cunts:

You know what made them even worse, was that they were referred to as The RCs. Arcee was pretty much the only female character I can remember from the cartoons..

Why would they ditch her in favour of these two clowns? She had personality and intelligence.. something sorely missing from Bay's work.

I just wanted to hear what you thought, I would completely agree with what you said. However, the only thing I found redeeming about any entry in the series was Shia as I think he is actually a good actor and I believe he play comedy rather well, some may disagree but that the way it is. For myself my main gripe was the animation of the new style transformers, it was too hectic and I thin this was simply a means to cover up their limitatinos in the studio. Also one of the problems I have with Bay is that it seems to be every single shot has to be sweeping or moving in some manner. I also agree that the robots themselves were lifeless and one dimensional, there really was very little to tell them apart.

I liked Skds and Mudflap because of their awful racist stereotyping, other than that, they were poo.

He was good in Even Stevens. Not really too keen on anything else I've seen!

I didn't dislike him really. But he was a bit of a non-entity, which is the frustrating thing about him being the main focus of the film!

Bt I just went on to IMDB and there was a film? A TV film mind you.

The Stevens think that they've won an all-expenses-paid trip to an island that's halfway around the world...
