That looks incredible! How the devil did they get permission to do that in the Health and Safety concious UK?

I should think the structure had been fully scrutinised before the event. Probably even needing planning permission or some kind of temporary licencing.

It's just a metal structure which shoots some flames into the air at alternate intervals. As far as health and safety goes it's no different to any other festival stage. It just looks alot cooler obviously.

That I get, the bit that raises the questions for me is that the structure that is shooting flames isn't next to the crowd it is 'above' the crowd. Some type of fuel would need to either be piped into or stored on the structure that is surrounded by and hovering over the general public. Unless I'm very wrong the HSE would have been crawling over that with a fine tooth comb.

Either way, that looks very impressive to me (and I'm not easily impressed by that sort of thing), I can certainly see why Robin was having kittens about it in the RILI thread.

I noticed in some of the pictures acrobats / artists hanging off the thing I also noticed there were some people slung underneath the thing on some sort of gantry; would that be the DJ's? If so I'm even more impressed!

I would be interested to know where the more traditional band style acts performed (if there were any) though.

I think the fuel is just stored in tanks on the structure mate. The DJs are in the middle, you can't really see them on this pic but basically where the two walkways lead to.

three legs, three walkways

different to the glasto spider which had a revolving stage underneath for bands etc

USA are more stringent, NY wanted a ridiculous exclusion zone so they wont be experiencing it now
