Living locally - I would say that it has not had a good reputation in the past. I think that a lot of it was down to the sort of nights that were being held there. I think it is quite good as a venue.

I think it's worth noting that nights like myself (Shoestring) and Drive-By which run on Saturdays are completely external and tend to be massively different to midweek nights. I know for a fact that 99% of the people that go to my nights are there for the artists/music and NOT for commercial music and getting plastered. The club has a bad rep due to some past situations run on internal nights (run by the club themselves). Like most clubs, on the 'right' night it can be amazing.....heavy mackie active sound system; undoubtibly the best in Bath etc and on the 'wrong' night it can be, well, not brilliant. I personally run a regular night with the biggest artists you'll ever see in Bath and the atmosphere is overly friendly and I myself have the best nights out I have in Bath because of this, so it depends a lot on the nature of the night. What kind of night are you running? Drop us a mail or stick me on your messenger if you'd like any advice/help getting started with your new night, I have learnt a hell of a lot running my night for the last year and hopefully I can save you some very painful mistakes that could cost you muchos time & money, which could involve even running the potential night in the first place!!........it's VERY easy to get it wrong in that club, especially as I'm guessing they've offered you a saturday.

Take it easy,

Mash :)

Cheers for the feedback, I know babylons has a bad rep but what does evry1 know it as being bad for, i.e. generally shite nights, lager louts, door staff.
If we know why people dont like it we can do our best to change it. But it does have many good bits
as mentioned before a cracking soundsystem, plenty of space, regular named dj's It may have a bad rep but look at other clubs caddies ( i ain't starting on that) T's playground whatever now. moles and fez (?) Poo's (?)Delfter krug ( good)
No babylons isn't pacha or ministry but neither is its competition.
But we are going to try and get rid of the reps etc.

WE JUST WANNA GET A LOAD OF PEOPLE TOGETHER THAT ENJOY HOUSE MUSIC.

I'm a big fan of what you trying to get started. I'm a student in Bath and last year found it hard to find anything resembling House music. Went to the trance night in Babs and had a good laugh, even though there wasn't to many people there. Babs is a weird place, it's not a bad club but they play shite music most of the time (odd exception) with Dj's who think the phazer filter should be used in every mix. I think that this area is a hard one to crack. People round hre seem to like there cheese, commercial safe music. They're not clued up with how good house music can be. My tip would be to push the student clientel, offer special student promotions and build up a rep through them.

Cheers,
the students are the only people that keep bath nightlife afloat as demonstrated when we had a night in august and no students were in town and the city was dead. The will be NUS discount on the door. There will be quality house tunes. this is the reason we set up our night cause we were sick of every club either playing r&b or cheese, no one willing to branch out.
We do have a night but only in a bar on the first friday bath and last friday cardiff.

On another note how can we get in touch with the students as there doesn't seem to be a message board that either uni uses, our flyers/posters never stay up long at bath uni and bath spa is harder to get into that fort knox.
We are looking for students to help us i.e. flyer round campus and bath, obviously paid.
we are constantly on the look out for new talent DJ wise.

i live in bath. you do need students to make up the numbers, but there are people here who are not students too who like a good night out. i tend to go to moles if i've got nothing better to do, but it is very mixed. the luvin' it free parties have sometimes been ok at t's or green park brasserie on sunday. i tend to go to lakota or black swan in bristol when i can, as do a fair number of bath people. i've been to babylon occasionally, but it does have a bad reputation. i haven't liked it because there were too many children there when i've been, also sometimes violence. but we need more good nights in bath and as a venue i think it has huge potential to host a good night. good luck and i'll look out for it.

just a thought - there are no breaks nights in bath - maybe a breaks / house mix might attract the more concerning clubber.

fair comments CHARLIEMAD, we are not alienating none students because we used to get this loads no not tonight lads NUS only but we are not going to be ike that it'll be open to EVERYONE exept as noted the kiddies that seem to SLIP !! past the door. It does have potential and hope we can tempt you to visit when we get going at the mo the date is going to be SATURDAY 20th MAY, line up to be confirmed but talking to SHAPESHIFTERS with either live PA or SAX accompanying or DONALD GLAUDE the later may have to wait till a future night.
with Dj's who think the phazer filter should be used in every mix
HA This made me chuckle...I remember going to the Anne Savage night with Nick a while back and jesus was it caned.....it's annoying as fook!!!

We're also looking at booking Eric Prydz....commercial, maybe, but his sets are nothing like his Call On Me production so I think house lovers will appreciate one of his jackin house sets. Any ideas you guys have for djs then let us know!

Matt will keep you in mind dude but somehow can't see you pulling the same crowd lol. Definately have you down again tho mate!
