If i was to buy a 50D
Body only would my Sigma 10mm-20mm fit the camera?

DrCrank - I cannot afford the 7D :-(

And how much could i raise from a 400D 430Ex Flash gun Canon Battery grip with 2 Batteries with all the stuff with it and also a 350D body only no box or anything else with it?

Many thanks people!

you'd have to change your DSI name.
Hey Simon!

yep the 10-20mm is an APS-C (EF-S Mount) lens and will work just fine.
You also won't want to wait until the price of the 7D drops. PLUS it has a number of new features so with Canon's track record of Quality Assurance, I'd be waiting too.

If you wanted to sell:

- 400D Body only (does this one have a box and manuals)
- 350D Body only (does this at least have a charger?)
- 430EX Flash
- Genuine Canon BG-E3
- 2 Batteries (is that total between the 2 cameras?)

Assumed I've got everything right, in order to get the most you'll need to sell each camera with at least a charger and a battery so the buyer can actually use it.

I'd estimate as follows:

- 400D (boxed with charger - body only) £180-£200
- 350D (no box, but with charger - body only) £125-£150
- BG-E3 £50+
- 430EX £75+
I've listed the grip and flash as + on the basis you could probably get more.

If the equipment is looking rough then expect less.

Just a ballpark estimate btw

As above, lens will fit. My mate just bought a 350d on ebay for £300 with a boggo 18-55 kit lens and about 4 batteries I think he said. you could probs raise about 600/700 for the lot I'd guess. Just a guess tho as I bought my 50d outright last christmas and have a 450d for a spare so wouldn't really know fully unless I sat on ebay and watched all the auctions end haha

peace,

krausey

Hummm so less than £500 I'd get a charger for the 350D there are three batteries in total two for the grip one for the 350D.

Hummmm, I might just save for the 7D then, I'll have a look in Hong Kong however always seem more expensive over there though.

Thanks for the advice! may as well save for the 7D and get it some time next year, unless i find £2000k on the floor :D

Like I said though - be careful of being "first in line" for a new Canon innovation, they have a history of getting it wrong, even on their top models like the 1D Mark III which had autofocus issues for ages before Canon even admitted there was a problem.

You can check "Completed Auctions" on the lefthand side after a search to see, well, completed auctions :)

I would do this:

1. sell the 350D before it loses more value
2. consider selling the grip, especially if you're not using it (again to prevent further depreciation.

Save the money earned.

6 months after the camera becomes available, the prices come down, and any bugs are sorted then you get the camera closer to £1200 or maybe even less, so you put the money you got from selling the 350D and the grip, and buy the 7D.

You could at that point either sell the 400D to pay towards the 7D or keep it as a backup

Good Idea, i'll have to get a charger now and find a buyer and lock this money away :D maybe i can sell that, sell my 430EX and get the 580EX :D then i m half way there with the lens and flash gun :D Woohoo the plan is getting better now I m going to get the 7D in 6 months! Woohoo!

Just remember that EF-S Canon lenses and "DC" Sigma lenses can only be used on crop sensor cameras like the 7D and below. The rest can be used on either cropped or full frame versions.

EF-S/DC -> APS-C only -> 7D, XXD, XXXD, XXXXD
EF/DG -> All

Note that EF-S lenses wouldn't mount on EF mount cameras, where as DC lenses will mount but rather leave blank space in the frame because the image circle is smaller than the frame.
