Heya,

I had an idea last night... I am involved in a company that has produced an amazing geodesic dome that will hold 1000+ people, some of you may have seen the prototype at glastonbury last year (lost vagueness - gaiaspace dome). 5 huge projection screens, and pods that are great for bars/chillout.

Anyway - we are mostly doing corporate/outdoor events, as the other cooler festivals can't afford us!

Anyhow - we all want to put on a *proper* party for ourselves and our buddies - you know ;-)

The great thing is - that it can go anywhere - even abroad (it comes packed in it's own shipping contatiner), and is big enough to form the dance tent for a cosy festival. Just need a nice field somewhere -

I would really love to throw a party for all the DSI-ers (especially seeing as tho I haven't met many of you IRL yet) - but I would need a bit of help...

First off - gauge interest? Anyone like the sound of this?

One way of getting some well known DJs to play is to make it a charity event :)

I think this would be perfect as the whole point to this happening is for us all to have a get together and not to make profit...so why not make it a fundraiser?

yeah - all good... i love the way this is coming together too.. i like to dream about what is possible..

the orignal idea i had a few months ago was codename '5x5' a demonstration of what happens when small world theory, shannons law and club culture come together..

the concept being that 5 people invite 5 people that invite 5 people and so on - and that you do it on the web... invite ppl, and it tracks who can make it and who has paid up - and stuff...

anyway - that was the science bit... the general concept being that everyone knows everybody and it doesn't take many iterations/generations for there to be a domefull!

i love the idea of a charity bash.

i have even thought of another related hair-brained idea a couple of years ago whereby a charity or 'non-profit' is set up who's purpose is to purchase woodland and 'nice land' in general to carry out preservation/conservation work and make community based access a priority (kids workshops, tree work, camping trips for underprivilged kids etc).. but also to hold the occasional private fundraising event.. possibly a shareholders meeting... ;-)

anyway - keep it coming.. we will have it all planned by weekend :)

by the way - the idea of doing a tour has come up again in PM (more details coming when i get a mo!)... i think that is a winner - that way nobody has an excuse for not turning up, and the hardcore can go to all of them!

Great White, nice selection(even though I'm not involved in that type of music- hard dance for me). I'm sure some DSI members you know will love to guide you round if you come over...I would but you'd be stuck with a headache if you followed me round listening to music you don't like LoL!
