Well hello Carlisle!

I used to live in Cumbria about 4 years ago just for 2 years. Originally from West Yorkshire i had to move here for a while but soon moved back away. After 4 years I've returned to see nothing much has changed. Basically from my knowledge of Cumbria and after going out in Workington last week i am still gutted at the choices people have up here. It seems everyone goes out to get pissed and they dont care what music is on (usually seems to be ultimate cheese)! Either that or usually a hard House event at Fusion which let face it, is a horrible club!

So, i have a plan!
Basically Fat's seems a nice fresh, clean, chic bar that seem to be at the forefront of the Area. So congrats on whoever is responsible for that, so i am thinking about planning a weekly event there. First off though I'm just doing some research. The night would be playing upfront dirty electro/techno house music and maybe some breaks.

Now i have been told that student night in Carlisle is on a Tuesday, is this true? If so the event is likely to be on that day as Fats would probably NOT let me have their place on a Saturday night. Bear in mind i have not spoke to Fats about this yet!

1) I need to know whether there is demand out there for such an event.
2) Are there any DJ's out there willing to play?
3) Would you be willing to pay a fixed £2 entrance every week?

If you are wondering why you would have to pay an entrance fee then i will put it like this....the entrance fee would be to pay the DJ's for the event. If/when i speak to Fats if they did let me take the Tuesday night it would probably be an agreement that goes a little something like this. They take the bar i take the door. So is £2 pound really that much? If only 20 people attend that's only £40 to pay DJ's and myself.

This is an event to set something off and offer you guys an alternative to the rest of the shit that is out there. I'm not in it for the money, i'm in it for the love of clubbing and the music!!

theres allot of places its just were would be willing, it'd be good on a tuesday with it being student night.. I'd definatly play at a house night for you, ive only just got into playing electro house the last few months but ive got quite abit as i used to do a pub night on thursdays. If you want any info on me etc give me a shout, but i'd help you out with getting a place as I'm local.

not checked this thread out for a while...looks to have picked up quite well. im away for a month next week and then im back, so i reckon ill be having a few chats about getting this night started up. I met Robbie Muir last night on a night out and had a chat with him. Had a few of his cds from about 5 years ago when i used to live up here but never knew who he was so it was a bit weird to finally meet him last night!

Robbie does production too. I'm not sure if he does it live though but it could maybe be an option. I think a live production set would be awesome!

I'm also a designer so i can do the artwork for the event and promotions i suppose.

If he feels confident in doing it i dont see why not? I've seen a few live production sets from some big names in small spaces and they have gone really well and been the highlight of the night, im still awaiting a reply tho but i do understand it is a big thing but anyways its an idea to keep in mind.

It's exactly what gonna make this night stand out though, i want to keep it fresh and different. I'm still not sure whether its gonna be weekly or monthly. If its monthly we could have different themes which is always a good idea if you got a regular crowd for support, but that will involve building up a fanbase first.

All ideas are welcome though, this thing is gonna be a team effort if i ever manage to get it off the ground :)
