I've always found Playrooms and the Borntodance nights the best places for atmosphere and crowd in brighton! Each to their own i guess.

Cheers Roben ;)

We've always tried to work as hard as possible with the door & club staff as closely as possible to avoid these minor disruptions.

Living in Horsham, it's hard for me to comment on all the other nights personally as it's a long trip (& I'm skint) but, having worked in Brighton & in close proximity to the other ZAP promoters for just over 2 years, I've rarely heard of any major problems @ the ZAP.

As with any club / events, you're always going to get a few "bad apples" that pass through the door & cause unnecessary problems but these minor problems shouldn't be taken to heart & reflect on the whole vibe of the club / events.

It's a shame the Steve will no longer be involved but I'm sure his reasons are just.

Dave

This is really me now not Dave... I’ve played the lots of venues and I have seen some dodgy things, but the Zap has always been a great place to party and play. I hope this sort of situation doesn’t continue and I’m sure it won’t.

Born To Dance nights are about happy clubbers without an attitude and it will stay that way.

Hi Everyone!

I was working outside with the doorstaff on the night as I have made a decision to tighten up on our door policy we turned away over 100 people and will be tightening up even more for Pussycat this weekend - no hoods, no chavs, no West Street drunkards! Just lots of people in Fancy Dress and glamourous clubwear!!!!

The Event being closed has pushed more of their clientelle on to the seafront. Hence I am working closely with our door team to have speedy entry whilst carefully selecting. It's a very difficult job out there and I like people to be treated with respect and always given a courteous reason for why they have been refused entry. However some people are far too drunk and so intent on causing trouble regardless, that they will try to start a fight. This is what happened outside the venue and I am very happy that this proved we made exactly the right decision to not let them in, especially as they then went and caused quite a serious incident inside another club. The door team quashed any trouble very quickly and professionally, in the accepted and lawful manner - as they are trained and police accredited to do so.

I rely on the doorteam to keep you all safe and also all my front of house girls on the tills, they are often verbally abused, spat at, kicked and punched and that includes the lady members of doorstaff and in the past myself. So you may wonder why we do the job we do? Well, I think that I can speak for all the staff who work outside and at the front of the club that we love nothing more than to look back when we discuss the event at the end of the night and know that you have all had a great time. We love watching you all and seeing all the smiling faces - it makes it all worthwhile!!

So this Saturday if you feel that anyone inside the club should be asked to leave, for whatever reason, please come and see me in confidence - I am usually at the front of the club, and I will ensure that any problem will be dealt with discreetly and speedily. We have a fabulous record at Playroom and at Pussycat we have never had a fight inside the venue (which is very unusual for any clubnight) you are all very important to me so please work with me to make your night out as fabulous as it possibly can be!! That would make me very happy - let's face it we are all lovers not fighters and that's the way it should be!

See you Saturday! x

Hip
this is a mirror of a thread that happened at the honey club ......the bones of it if be security was easy WE would all do it...i myself have been amazed that in all the time i have been at the zap and thats a lot (im paying half thier council tax) i can count only a few actual incidents...although i have met some knobs now and again you think will be causing trouble, even prevoking ,but as the night goes on they are removed along with the attitude.
Roll on Saturday i say
and roll on pussy i want to do

Going on what I have read so far, if the doorstaff did turn away a group of lads aggressively (.. which is often the only way) and it is true that the same group went onto bottle someone in the honeyclub, then that is pretty good foresite and decision by the doorstaff.

Doorstaff on the seafront clubs will have had to adapt slightly their overall approach following closure of Event II, to manage and adapt to the shift in clientele

We later heard that they managed to go to the Honey Club, but were ejected for 'BOTTLING' someone.

WTF?!?!

We did not have a single incident down the honey club on Saturday night!!!

Havnt been out in Brighton for a while, up to london a bit, clubs seem to attract people there for the music more and at most of the clubs i have been to there have been hardly any idiots, hence a better atmosphere and night

surely it all depends on the area of london or brighton, the dj, the music, the venue, the promoter?!
