Can we read that as 'I downloaded something which I thought was a VST from a filesharing site'?

lol

If you check out the front page of the CDJ Users group, there is a section at the bottom about peer-to-peer sharing. You'll find a few spyware/adware/anti virus programs there for free download, give those a try.

Hiya have to delete EVERYTHING to do with cubase from the registry

run the cubase installer and delete it off your PC then....

CLICK START

CLICK RUN

in the box type REGEDIT

in the new box click EDIT at the top and click FIND

type CUBASE in the new box and click FIND NEXT

delete the first thing it finds with CUBASE in the listing then press F3

F3 finds the next item you are searching for, press F3 then delete the next item, press F3, delete the next item....

KEEP DOING THAT UNTIL IT SAYS search finished

should find loads of them listed as uninstalling it doesnt delete all the parts that run it

THEN REPEAT IT AGAIN WITH THE WORD steinberg

DELETE ALL FOLDERS + LINES CONTAINING THE WORD cubase or steinberg

That will delete everything out of the windows registry that runs the programmes now run a online virus scan
I use this one, it finds and deletes every dodgy bit of crap from ya PC
BITDEFENDER ONLINE SCAN

NOW RE-INSTALL CUBASE - should work fine

Ive had to do that a couple of times before with LOGIC when its crashed badly and re-installing wont work, it needs to be re-installed, one of the dodgy components left in ya pc may not get over written

the first scan is always very long but it checks every file in ya pc and removes any crap

Hopefully cubase will re-install once you have deleted all the stuff embedded in your registry because it starts fressha and doesnt over write it

that cubase error could be somthing to do with the dongle copy protection, try install latest version of cubase, and make sure your Syncrosoft software is installed alright

Or if you are too poor then just set up dual boot on your PC and have a second operating system solely for music ;o)

Firstly you will have to wipe everything off your hard drive, and re-format it into 2 partitions(a windows install cd can do that)

Then you need to find a dual boot loader, you will have to look for a windows one though as most of them ar for Linux operating systems(unless you want to install linux)- have a search on google, theres a few you can download for free.

Then install Windows(or any other operating system) onto each partition, so you have effectively windows installed on your pc twice. Then each time you turn your computer on it will give you the option of which one you want to boot.

If you use one for internet and everything else, and the other just for music- then if you get a virus/trojan etc on the internet one it can't spread onto the one you use for music. Plus your computers performance will be a lot better when you are just using it for music.

If you do a search in google there are a few guides which tell you how to do it properly
