Modern Warfare 2 for £26 instore @ Sainsbury's
Yep, the X360 and PS3 versions of Modern Warfare 2 are being sold for £26 @ Sainsbury's and I just got a copy. Be warned it's one copy per person.

I'm sorry but I can only laugh at people who oh so vocally defended the RRP of £55 a few months back. You are a bunch of fanboys.

£40 if fair. that's how much games should cost by default. Anything above that is a ripoff imho. Anyway sod it, everyone's got their copy so let's just enjoy this awesome game now.

I got mine from Play.com for £44.99. I was a bit shocked when I heard the game was selling for £26 in Sainsbury's, but thinking about it, I couldn't give a shit. I'm not bothered at all I paid more for it. It's a mint game! :D

i'd like to know how Activision attempted to justify it, although at least it is a quality production.

could they realistically come up with anything other than "even if we push the price stupidly high a lot of people are going to want this game so we might as well do it"?

totally agree with that. i'll still check for bargains, but if i'm desperate for a new game i'll happily pay that much at release.

amazon are doing it for that price as well,

yup, i just ordered it for 32ukp from them. i intended to wait a couple of months for the price to drop but i'll take advantage of the price war! also i'm still waiting for my import game from Hong Kong so COD will pass the time!

Amazon seem to be the cheapest online so a good option if you can't make it to a supermarket or they sell out. interesting news item on find-games.co.uk (price-checking website)...

"Amazon said its pre-order sales for Modern Warfare 2 is higher than any title before it and 50% higher than for Grand Theft Auto 4, which until today was the most successful release ever."

It was probably just a clever marketing ploy: Saying it'll be £55 then releasing it for £26 in some places with a "limited supply" is sure to have thousands of fools (like me :D) nipping to the shops "before it gets expensive again".
