You've probably noticed the new chat box! You can do all sorts of cool stuff in it - have a play.

It might be on-and-off over the next couple of days as I test features. Bear with me if you're having problems.

No, just obsessed with not being on here any longer than possible.

It means you don't have to wait for the inbox to reload between every page view - I open the inbox once, read about 20 threads in different windows and then start again.

Probably gets me through my inbox twice as fast as with one window.

Quick question - when i sent a live chat message to a buddy who's online, do they still get a pop up window, or does it just appear in their chat box on the left. (i.e. are they getting pop ups or just fucking ignoring me)

As far as I can tell they just pop up in the chat box on the left ie a number appears next to 'private chat - buddies' or 'private chat - strangers'

Several requests have been made for the pop-up to be returned - I think it would be useful as I missed a private chat the other day until the person had gone offline...

Could just have a pop-up for the first message and then you have to keep an eye on the chat yourself?

Most of my mates are thick and don't know how to use the new chat system and have no intention of learning. They understand pop-up's though as they can't miss them.

I do think pop-ups would be useful...but the new chat system really isn't complicated...

it is for people who come oline once a month to check whats going on at the weekend.

To be fair to the designers, it's not really there for the occasional user.

yeah, but they could always just keep one pop up for private chat.

Although having said that, give it a couple of months and even the thickest occasional user will have figured it out! i'm just lazy because i'll have to PM the thick ones with instructions!!

If you check back, you'll see that DaveB did state that he would be introducing an improvement over the old popup box.

Loving the changes, but is there somewhere I can click to turn off the adverts? they really slow down my pc.

plus this new chat seems to have slowed mine down more than anything before

He means, before you could click "live chat" and hide all ads, he's wondering if that's still possible. The answer is no btw snappa.

Hi guys, the photo alerts rooms were causing lots of problems - you might of noticed your browser crashing or running really slowly. So - until I fix the problem I've turned them off.
