Monday bleeuurgh...
Is it just me or does Friday night's shenanigans already seem an age ago? Just a quick one to say hello and thanks to everyone who came down to share the night with us, it was really nice to touch base with (almost) everyone again! Particular thanks without doubt to all those helping hands who came down to share the work behind-the-scenes and make the night run so smoothly (not to mention enjoyable!) for Mark and myself: Two-for-the-Price-of-One Kaz and Nicole on the door, Nathan & Amanda Pilot setting up, Gary on sound and of course the lovely ladies of Ye Newe Chill-Out Tea Shoppe who stepped in at last minute on emergency shift duties when our usual suppliers dropped out. A quick trip to the cash'n'carry and we got it sorted - the show must go on!! Jess, Kate, Nikki and KT - all right-hand ladies extraordinairewho were a dab hand in the kitchen (as Chloe observed 'who said domestic slavery was dead?!') and elsewhere, and Ned from the Synergy Project who supplied the cushions. It made a huuuuuuuge difference to us to have the Higher Status Crew back in action again, thank you SO much for all the help. xxx

As for the music, I actually spent most of my time in the Chill-Out Room for a change, so you'll have to fill me in on everyone's sets that I missed...selected highlights for me though were seeing Carl Loben jumping up and down like a mad thing, spacing out to Infidel's ambient good times old skool selections, finally having a boogie to Jimmy Mofo (what an old smoothie on the mic eh?!) at the end, and our Joel creating an afterparty space worthy of all the living room experiences I've had over the past few years rolled into one! Can't believe I missed DEF inc., engrossed in a deep conversation elsewhere...ah well, another time!

Wicked turn-out - I think the combination of that Breakspoll nomination and another strong line-up is doing the business as apparently there were 40-min queues stretching down the street - madness! - but we want to ensure C64 DOESN'T become just another London club night so we'll be stepping up our door policy and doing some changes to our future promotion. Keep you posted on all that....

Donations were awesome, its great that people are remembering to give a little something back (no doubt aided by Nicole's disarming smile!!) One guy even won a tidy sum on the dogs that day and donated nearly half of it to the cause! So for the first time we will have enough to pay all the DJs travel expenses so they are not left out of pocket which let's face it, is the very least we can do for all that they give to us. As soon as we've sorted that I'll let you know what you've raised for Anti-Slavery International.

Too many names to mention, but a pleasure to have you all there as always. The smiles on birthday faces Tracey and Rawle were worth it alone!! ;-) It's the people that make C64 without doubt and we couldn't do it without your support. Hope it was good for you too! xxx

PS Oh yeah, Voodoo Angel lost her camera :-((( a blue digital camera. So if anyone knows anything about it's whereabouts please get in contact ASAP. We'll even consider a 'return-the-memory-card-no-questions-asked-deal'...just get dem pics back!!!!

Just received the latest newsletter and it's just reminded me to post a review of last Friday's event LOL - sorry about that.

Also, I was a bit shocked to read about pervy people / hassle etc. Haters get the *&^% outta here and all that! I personally didn't see any anti-social behaviour during the night, and I found the night to be a refreshing change from other club nights. Will post a review in just a moment.

Hi there,
I just wanted to thank you all for this great night, I enjoyed each and every beautiful smile of yours and the music! Was GOD involved in DJing ? I think that this crazy corridor between the rooms changed something deep inside but I don't know what ;-) .
And for something else , I spent the following morning in the hospital with a friend who fell on a broken glass while dancing like crazy (as we all should dance) ... He had another surgery yesterday and he'll be fine! People B CAREFUL ! Hospital's aren't the best afterparty - seriously it's a bad trip...
Happy holiday
and enjoy the sun she is coming to get you!

I'm a bit late posting this but just wanted to add that that was my first C64 night and I thought it was excellent. I wasn't able to stay too late due to having travelled quite a bit the previous week for work but I'm hoping to stay the course for the next one!

Yas, KT - good to meet you again, albeit brief! :-)

And thanks to everyone else I met for being uber friendly!

OK, finally caught up with Gemma Wolfes from Anti-Slavery International now back from holiday to whom we were able to give £250 from your contributions at the door (all profits after paying off the door girls and DJ cab fares and drinks tokens). She wanted to pass on this message:

"Thank you so much for the feedback and the photos- it looked like a great evening. I cannot believe that some clubbers were actually reading the leaflets either! Thank you also for raising such a fantastic sum of money and for all your efforts in raising awareness. I think the free parties that you organize, with donations to charity are such a brilliant idea. Anti-Slavery International would like to thank everybody who donated to us at the C64 Free party. The money raised will help support our work to end this horrific practice by exposing current cases of slavery, supporting the initiatives of local organisations to release people, and campaigning for a change in laws to protect people. Our Fight for Freedom campaign will continue throughout this year, and aims to make the eradication of all forms of slavery a priority for each and every government around the world. With your help, we can make this a reality for the 21st Century, so thank you once again!"

Best wishes

Gemma Wolfes
Anti-Slavery International

Making a difference whilst having a kickass time can't be bad! This is the most we have raised yet so please continue to give whatever you are happy to share to ensure that we can keep the balance of keeping everyone happy and these parties rolling. I'd much rather someone gave £1 freely than £10 reluctantly. Many thanks :-)))

Excellent news!

By the way, Yas, I don't know if you saw this post in the promoters' group from "DJs Without Borders"?

Thought it might be of interest to you for a future one.

Cheers,
