have a look at the edirol r09 if you're going to use it a lot, especially if you wanto use it for demos as well as live work. much better sound quality than the ikey...

dolphinmusic.co.uk

Its twice the price, will the quality in sound justify the price?

Looks like im gonna end up with.....

2 x cdj 1000 mk 3

Gemini p600 amp (my old one which has been in a cupboard for 6 years, at least)

Krk rp5 speakers or Alesis M1 passive

A&H Xone 62

Fair enough, the only thing i've just never liked is the 2 x mid range EQs. The way i work i prefer one mid-range EQ, but everyone has their own way of mixing i guess.

Alesis M1 passive

I have the M1 mk2 actives, very good speakers! You'll love em.

and no social life for a while!

lol i know the feeling!!

Might be a bit of overkill if he doesnt need midi control?

do you take it out with you? From what i've read, it looks like Lewi is looking for something to practise on that is the same as when he plays out. The new Zero4 and Zero8 look incredible but i've never seen them anywhere i've been in London

I looked at the Korg and its got great features, but not what i need.

Im getting my home set up simply as i try to use most functions available on the equipment i use, however to date, i have had to try things live at my smaller gigs before i do them at my bigger gigs, and as my smaller gigs are still live, i dont get much chance to try things that often, loop, efx, acapella's etc!

And also i need them as i am going to be doing podcasts probably!

If i just went out and beatmatched i wouldnt buy anything as i wouldnt need it.

And most of the places i play have djm's which are fool proof really and A&H which take a little extra to master!

So that why im gonna go with the A&H Xone 62!

Let us know how you get on with it - quite curious about A&H, not used one yet, but they do seem tempting... I'll only consider another mixer when I add an extra deck though, so a bit of time yet.

they're awesome mate - well worth a few hours practice to get used to them.
i can't live without those filters anymore!

totally bullet proof too and they last forever.

let's see what lewi thinks in a couple of weeks....

A&H sound better for straight track to track mixing. But Pioneer's ease of use really encourages creativity and the built-in effects sound first class!!

Yeah, I have the DJM400 at home, enough for my set up with just 2 CDJs. The FX, even on what is really an entry level pro-mixer, are easy to use and sound reasonably good - however, as someone who blend-mixes, I do like the thought of having the 4 eq's and being able to manipulate the sound quality.

I played a gig recently where the FX knobs were missing off the DJM600, and it was quite nice just to focus on using the EQ's to maximum effect, making subtle (and not so subtle) changes here & there.
