Yourspace@dust

What Is It?/ Yourspace@dust invites London based D.Js and electronic producers to gain experience playing at one of the capitals leading D.J bars. We are currently looking for D.Js and producers who want to bring their own style of music to the dancefloor. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone who is looking to gain experience and exposure playing live in the Capital.

How it works/ If you would like to be involved with yourspace@dust all you have to do is contact us through our myspace site and let us know a bit about yourself and your music. No demos are necessary but please don’t put yourself forward if you’ve never been behind a pair of decks before-

This night isn’t for professional D.Js but a basic level of competence and confidence is essential. We will then get in touch with you and book you in for a Wednesday night slot, which will consist of two 30-45 min sets (depending on the schedule for that week.). Try and be as original as possible whilst remembering that you are in a Bar that is geared towards dancing. A 40 minute set consisting of noises made from implements found round the house won’t always get toes tapping.

Impress us and you may get invited back for a paid weekend gig!!! D.Js are invited to play off Vinyl or C.D. If you are a budding producer bring your laptop and plug it straight into our mixer. (Don’t Forget your headphones!)

Try and drag some mates down to the bar as well. A busy bar creates a good atmosphere and will hopefully lead to a full dancefloor to test your tunes out on.

yes they have but they should still be paid this way the club gets a free night or the promoter keeps the money

If you want to play in the premiership, you've gotta put in the time on the Sunday league pitch

Wannabe producers playing their own hand-crafted bleeps and blurps...? a recipe for... um... er... where's me earplugs???

I'd DEFINITELY get some demos first, or the only people there really will be the DJ's mates. And their very best mates at that!

Good luck tho.

I'd be interested but who is going to make an effort to bring mates down (on a Wednesday too - hard work) when you aren't getting paid? Basically we are being asked to DJ AND promote for free.
I might think about it tho if I have nothing better to do on a Wednesday.

firstly, bringing friends down isn't a pre cursor for getting a slot- we do our best to promote it. all we ask is that the d.js who have been booked send out a bulletin or invent invite.
D.js/producers are screened through their myspace sites and so far the standard of the music has been pretty high.

Im all for new djs getting a break in this way but I reckon 90% of replies will be from experienced out of work djs so the inexperienced djs will be frozen out
