Immigrants take 1.4m new jobs
IMMIGRANTS have filled nearly all the new jobs created in Britain over the past seven years, a report claims today.
Around 1.34million jobs have been created here since 2001, according to think-tank Migrationwatch.

But over the same period the number of non-UK born workers has grown by 1.4million — while the number of UK-born workers has fallen by 62,000.

Full Article

Can someone like DaveNewt or someone else that has said on a number of occasions that immigrants workers do no harm this country defend this please?

And before you use that it's in The Sun, it was in several other papers and on the news, but this is the only link I can find.

Sorry martin, could'nt resist it.

On a more serious note, I don't see how paying people more increases anything (apart from the cost of living).

to be honest when i see scumbags better off than me on benefits i kinda wonder whats the incentive to work.

Its well documented, its called World War Two. An unfortunate result of this war was that a few people who used to work in this country died. Look it up sometime.
what the fuck are you on about?

i still don't buy that the 1.4million jobs thats these immigrants have taken our people wouldn't do cos of some so called snobbery.

also despair at "positive discrimination" to fill quotas now that does my fucking nut in!! why have the need to represent the community if they can't get a job fairly cos they are idiots????

It obviously increases the standard of living of the workforce, and more generally makes work more attractive (and therefore benefits and/or crime less attractive). The Government has a duty to represent the electorate, not just management.

It makes little or no difference to either..

Wages go up == Cost of living goes up

If I have to pay my staff more, I will charge my customers more.

At the moment I am having to charge my customers less and fucking wish I could pay my staff less so that I could at least make some money.

The next step would be to either make the staff redundant and try and soldier on (quite expensive and risky) or to send the business bankrupt (as MFI, Woolworths et al have already done) and leave everyone else with a few pence in the pound..

You must remember Martin, its not only the staff that need to make a living and the rules of commerce dictate that the money used to pay the staff has to come from somewhere.

As I remember, the only thing the minimum wage achieved was to raise the cost of living (any rise in the standard of living over the past 10 years has been pretty much down to easily obtained credit as alot of people are now finding out the hard way).

I do agree with you that the government should put a time limit on benefits. I also feel that they should find someway of discouraging people from veiwing procreation as a career choice too although I fear the latter would be difficult to achieve without appearing even more like big brother than they already do (not to mention the social problems it would cause in the future due to those whom have already invested themselves in that profession).

its also meant to create a more cyclical flow of money, i.e people earn more money, they spend more money, which means more people are needed to make/sell things etc etc..

it was probably one of bushs best idea's giving everyone in america a one off tax rebate, it didnt quite have the desired effect, but it was a good idea none the less

Alex, I am not denying that immigration increases the size of the economy, or that employers such as yourself can benefit. However, immigration increases inequality, does not increase GDP per capita, does not improve long term growth and puts a strain on infrastructure.
