What is the hottest trilogy?
There have been many series of 2 great films, but was wondering if there are any trilogies that are truly great? I cannot actually think of one. Remember ALL THREE ENTRIES NEED TO BE STELLAR. So for example you can’t say the Godfather series as part three lets it down or Lord of The Rings as there’s just tooooo much walking everywhere.

Can you think of any quality trilogies?

Also, agree with you that number two was definitely the best TMNT film. Just like Bill & Ted.. finish on a big 80s song and dance number = WIN!

Look at the women having a go, well done, but better luck next time.

I've had more time in the 80's than you. Thus your opinion on good film is moot ;)

Star Wars I to III (or IV to VI as it's now known) will never be beaten.

Matrix 1 was brilliant because it had the concept wow factor. The other two films didn't have that so they went too far with the special effects and shit.

I love the godfather films and Lord Of The Rings.

Final Destination is one film series that never should of made it past the first one. Same goes for Fast and Furious. Although the world wouldn't of missed out in the slightest if we'd never had to sit through the first 1

The 3rd movie is so incredibly shite though that it really does taint the first two classic films. The gulf in class between the first two and the third is just incomprehensible.

It's been a long time since I've watched the 3rd one. I've got the boxset but always catch bits of 1 and 2 when they show it on tv. 3 never seems to get shown for some reason?

I read the book before i watched films, so it's the whole saga which I love.

Re. Godfatehr part 3, apparently actors such as George Hamilton had their roles cut down to shit in the editing room, not sure if it's a case of too much studio involvement or something but there really is an incredible difference in quality between the second and third. Personally I enjoy the first part but just find that it sags in the middle with his marraige. Part 2 is a just awsome all the way through.

The 3rd just has everything wrong with it, cast, script etc.

It just totally isolates itself from the first two movies, it doesn't even seem like the Corleone family any more, it was just purely a cash in really.

They've always been known as IV to VI .. for years as a kid I couldn't figure out why I couldn't find the first three episodes in the video shop.

Shame they never made a House Party 3!

Another good one would be a thread on which movies never had the 3rd completed!

Beverly Hills Cop should definitely have ended at 2 but 48 Hours needed a trilogy for me!

I enjoy number 3 for what it is, a completion of the story. But I agree that it isn't in the same class as 1 & 2.

I also have a video box set (still smelling of wee with that one) of the US tv series where they took 1 & 2 and reasembled all the scenes in cronological order (and added a few bits which were cut from the originals), the set stretches over 3 x 3 hour tapes and I must say I prefer it that way. When part 3 is added and watched at the end of that (making it an 11/12 hour sitting), it makes alot more sense and makes watching number three alot better.

Sorry Robin, I guess I'm just more into the 'expanded universe' than I am Luke Skywalkers homo-erotic persona and incestuous activities.

Not sure about that as there is no real continuity or timeline between the films...

However, if they manage to make a third one with Daniel Craig and it's as good as the previous two (and continues the 'early Bond' story) I think that could well qualify.
