Dance Island 2009, East Anglia’s biggest dance music festival, has joined forces with Dontstayin.com to host its arena for up and coming DJ talent and is offering budding DJs the chance to win a set at the festival’s 'Nu Talent Arena'.

Dontstayin.com, the UK’s leading clubbing community social networking site, is on the search for 10 of the UK’s best up and coming DJs to win a coveted slot at this summer’s hottest dance festival. And we're not just talking about a 15 minute warm up set either. We're talking the whole hog. A 1 hour slot starting any time throughout the 15 hour event.

The lucky winners will get to feature on the same line-up as:

Pendulum DJ set and MC Jakes,
The Shapeshifters,
Utah Saints,
Plump DJs,

BBC Radio 1’s Kutski,

All you need to do to be in with a chance of playing at Dance Island 2009 is record a 20 minute DJ mix of the tracks that best represent your style, burn it to a CD (NO LINKS) and send it to:

Please write on the front of the CD your name, contact number, and the style of music that you are putting forward so that we can quickly get it to the right place to be judged.

All styles of dance music will be entertained, and we're looking for a broad spectrum of genre's to represent DSI in the arena on the day. The final date for CDs to be received for entry is Friday, 12th June 2009.

Thanks to all of you entered so far. we've had some wicked demos in already, and i'm pleased to say a really good range of styles. This arena is going to be wicked already.

We are pleased to confirm that we are extending the entries until the 12th June now (I actually mad a typing error initially!)

Also thanks to those who have taken a chance to enter from abroad. It's great to see that we're reaching out so far.

Hello DJ’s,

Well following the closure of the Dance Island competition, the judging of the DJ entries is now well under way. We had loads of entries as expected (about 150 I think) from places far and wide. We even had some from overseas as far as Switzerland. It was also good to see new and even a few of the up and coming DJ’s already out there on the scene having a go with such a great prize at steak.

I’m now literally squeezing every moment of my spare time into listening to everybody’s entries and giving an initial mark out of 10. Once this is done, I’ll then be looking for the highest scoring demo’s and contacting the winning DJ’s. I’m hoping to have this done over the weekend with the intention of making the full line up announcement next Monday on DSI.

There have been some amazing entries that are just screaming with talent, and there have been some entries that have been… not so good (I’ll be conservative with my choice of words there!)

Anyway, we’re really excited in the build up to Dance Island 2009, because from the choice we have to pick from, it’s going to be a wicked day of music in the DSI Nu Talent arena. Make sure you don’t miss out joining us along with line up that Dance Island have put together.

So stay tuned DJ’s because we’re not far away now from letting out the news of the winners!
