That's awful. I experienced some really heavy handed tactics by door staff at The Beach last week. Haven't been there for years, and I certainly won't go again. They were throwing people out for chilling on the sofa, closing their eyes, and just having a 'moment.' Can't say I have ever seen heavy handed door staff at The Zap though. What a shame :(

Change of door staff maybe? They had the same faces running it for years, but maybe they have gone to a different company?! Someone from The Zap please tell us! This has been my clubbing home for 16 years!!!

I must say, my friends and I had a very good night! We've been going to the Zap every weekend (near enough) for the last year

By the looks of things, every one enjoyed themselves to me, and I heard nothing but good feedback. Maybe your friend didn't hear the full story. If everyone behaved how they should and go out to have fun, then they wouldn't have a reason to kick them out. Not forgetting the EVENT has in fact shut down....the club that attracts every drunken young chav in Brighton. Obviously the chavs are going to look elsewhere to go!

I was in the queue when there was trouble outside. The trouble involved 3 18 year old looking boys and a drunk wining young girl. It started with an argument in the queue shouting and swearing at eachother. Yes the bouncers did refuse them entry and yes they did literally throw them out... but I'm sure most of you agree, we don't need drunken pikeys in their causing trouble.

You should be allowed to take your shirts off!! How is that hurting anybody though!! ( Ray did you have pegs hanging from your nips?) ;-) xx

i agree totally, the last few weeks at zap, the people who have been causing all the trouble have seemed to be boys who have simply drunk too much. i love seeing new faces out and about, but if people are just going to stand around or drop beer all down my back then i guess i'd rather not...

that sounds heaps bitchy, i just hate getting barged into by drunk guys :)

anyhoo, to cut a long story short, sash, i had a good night. finally went on that bouncy castle too!!

The bouncers there are fine. I have never ever had any problems in all the time I've been going there. A couple of my mates have been chucked out in the past but they were pissed up and basically asking for it. If you act like a cunt you get thrown out, simple! (not aimed at steve K as that sounded like it got blown out of all proportion)

Ray they're probably just jealous of your body :-)

Ray did you have pegs hanging from your nips

even if i did...is that a threat to security? hahaha but, no, not on this occasion......

After having hosted Bliss at the Zap for 6 months now, and working 1st hand with the door staff, ive found them to be reasonable and professional. Sounds to me like something's got out of hand but we shouldnt speculate til we're given all the facts.
Sorry to hear Steve's decision.

Hip
i did'nt see anything happen, actually found the bouncers quite friendly...maybe they are happy to talk to uglies like myself ..then again i forget my own name most times so i could well have been talking to an in flateble cow that was being abused in ways which left me feeling disturbed....was a fantastic night otherwise and the dj who played last really needs some kind of scan because he makes lee evans look tame!

Seriously - wow, that really is a bit naff. I remember when the Zap was a really friendly party place, this was many years ago - I think it must have changed hands since. I went back a few months ago and was really disappointed: dark, dingy and a small gathering of kids hanging in clicky groups. Where did all the open space, crowds, smiles, colour....and decent sound system go?!

It's a shame a club can't deal with a few pesky teenagers without the full force of muscle, and even more so that one of their top dj's has to walk in protest - but good on for making a stand. X
