The Shining

Revisited The Shining Tuesday night what with halloween just passing, I was in the mood. Like Celshaw I love horror films and this has got to be the most epic horror film of all time.

Based on a Stephen King novel and being directed by Stanley Kubrick, you can't really go wrong. And then throw in the guy that has the most insane face in the history of film, the one and only Jack Nicholson (one of my all time favourite actors, who also oddly reminds me of my dad). Scene is set in desolation, cut off from the world. Throw in the kid with the freaky imaginary friend voice "Redrum redrum!", spooky twins, and the head of your household becoming barking mad and trying to butcher you with an axe - what more could horror fans ask for!

Anyone else think this is the best horror film ever?

The original I Spit On Your Grave is similar content, equally fucked up.

I'm tryin to remember the name of a horro film i saw not too long ago.

It starred Liv Tyler. It was about a couple stayin in their inlaws house for the weekend. They get a knock on the door and some strange girl is there asking for Jimmy, but Jimmy dont live there lol
It turns out that she is one of 3 ppl scoping the house, a family it seems, all in freaky masks. They spend the rest of the film scaring the living shite out of liv tyler and the lead actor but in proper subtle and "lurking in the background" type ways.

Really got into it due to the atmos created.

Anyone recognise it?

Agreed......

The prolonged silence in the scene where the cops on his knees about to get his head blown off, I cnt remember which one of the films its in, but its right at the end i think, was intense.......sittin there stoned out my tree with my mates, all of us shouting "SHOOT HIM, KILL HIM!" lol The suspense was killa!

Yep,the strangers - I thought that was quite boring actually, it didn't have me hooked.

House of 1000 Corpses

I haven't seen that but I really want to, it's suppose to be one of the best Horrors EVER! (well, so the critics say anyway)

Oh, I have to give the Final Destination films a mention as I think they're great entertainment - not at all scary, but the way people die is just horror comedy gold!

American Psycho!!!

I went to see that to the cinema on a first date... my suggestion, I really didn't know what is was about, funnily enough, that relationship didn't last the week, I think he was a bit scared.

For anyone who hasn't seen Piranha.. then do... the carnage those wicked little fishes cause is brilliant!!

I liked it when the girl was screaming and they were all copying her... I've been watching the history of horror, and apparently, they say what makes that film is not the gore or the atmosphere it's the sounds and the piercing screams. I find the TCM difficult to watch!
