A fun little night...
A friend of SquireGidders told him about this venue, and a great venue it is! A medium-sized collection of basement rooms. In reality they are old (approx. 200 years old) caves what comprised, probably, a wine cellar. The rough stone-work and atmospheric, moody lighting, together with the winding layout make it so much fun. The added bonus are the little dungeon rooms, with small, barred windows, heavy cast-iron, drop-down benches or stone, and barred or cast-iron doors make ideal little torture chambers - complete with eyelets in the stonework... I'll bet many a more frenetic play has been made in those... The bars (2) were in the corner of one room, well-stocked with various liquors and the usual, rather ordinary, French beers.

Scattered around the rooms in good sizes were seating alcoves and areas, well-arranged using various types of chair, bench or ... instrument of torture...! (There was a rather violent and scary-looking, replica, torture chair in the corner of one room, that looked extremely painful...)

The music was a real mixture: punk, metal, goth, pop, techno, house - it catered for all sorts, but I'd say it was "older school" than most British clubs. That's not to say it wasn't bad - just different!

The mixture of people was excellent: the fetish/alternative scene is made of all sorts, and they were well-represented! A couple of house Mistresses kept people firmly under control and under foot. Those that wanted it, that is!

We had some really interesting chats, but curiously it seemed to warm up after a guy, who shortly told us that he ran the club, had a chat with us: he asked us who we were, where we were from, why we were there, and so-on, in a very friendly, chatty atmosphere. He then introduced us to his friends, the two bar-maids, and some others. During and afterwards we paid for few of all of the drinks we had, and I'm sure there was some tonic in the G'n'Ts I asked for, but it couldn't have been much!! The bar-maids subsequently proceeded to introduce us to anyone and everyone who came to the bar for a drink and expressed an interest in who those two "etrange Anglais" were! :)

In all: different, but well worth it!
