Q-Base Arena info direct from Q-Dance.... Interesting read :)
AREA 01
ELITE
This Q-area will host a 16-hour seventh heaven for hardstyle fans, aptly dubbed ‘Elite’. For the first half of Q-BASE, Headhunterz, Brennan Heart, D-Block & S-te-Fan and Josh & Wez will pump up the volume, making way for Tatanka, The Prophet, Deepack and Alpha² in the second half. The elite ranks of the hard dance scene will grace us with their presence in this area, shaking the stage with the best that hardstyle, and its cousins, has to offer.
There is no question about it; if anyone in this line-up empitomises the sound, it is The Prophet, thanks to his years of experience. The Hague-based hardstyle machine Deepack are a close second and Italian idol Tatanka is a real veteran of hard dance. The dynamic duo Alpha², are well on their way to becoming the bulldozer of the genre. And not to forget Brennan Heart, Headhunterz, Josh & Wesz en D-Block & S-te-Fan, who have released hit after hit and promise to set Q-BASE ablaze with a crackling hard style explosion.

AREA 02
OPEN AIR STRIP
Traditionally, Q-BASE visitors convene primarily round the main stage in the open air. This area, appropriately called 'Open Air Strip', will be overrun by an army of hard dance lovers again this year, who will wreck the homes of many a mole on these grounds in Germany. Like the other areas on the festival grounds, there will be a musical 'changing of the guards' around midnight. The main stage line-up consists of the best performers that today's hardstyle scene has to offer, in all their ear-splitting glory.
One German artist scheduled for the first half, A*S*Y*S vs Kamui, stands out in particular, and will be joined by three Dutch artists: Zany, Wildstylez and Frontliner. Whereas the first two are considered the front line of the Dutch hardstyle scene, Frontliner’s reputation of being ‘extremely talented’ has long since become an understatement. During the second half of the festival day, Dutch superstars The Beholder and Darkraver will pump up the crowd, after which the baton will be passed to the Italian delegation. Zatox and the explosive finale Mad Dog & Tommynocker will do everything in their power to flood the Open Air Strip with throbbing beats.

AREA 03
DUTCH MASTER WORKS
Q-BASE is proud to present this line-up of renowned artists featuring only the crème de la crème of producers and led by the Showtek brothers. DMW saw the light of day in mid-2005 when Sjoerd and Wouter Janssen decided to start a music label. It has since been called one of the most important hardstyle labels. These days, DMW isn't just one of the best-selling labels in the world, but is also considered the bastion for great hardstyle and its sub-genres. Not too long ago, Showtek even won a prestigious English hard dance award for ‘FTS’.

The hits 'Puta Madre' and 'We Live for the Music' are just a couple of examples of dance floor smashes that rock the house like there's no tomorrow. Dutch Master, DJ Duro, Deepack, Zany & Duro, Mr. Puta, Lowriders, Walt Jenssen, and last but not least, the live act Southstylers have put DMW on the map with such supercharged energy, that the world will not soon forget them. The newest additions to the label's line-up are DJ/Producer Haze with his fresh, innovative sound and the promising duo Abyss & Judge, which made a spectacular debut with its 'Hardstyle Revolution'. All this makes DMW the multifaceted, innovative label that it is, a label with its own unique sound.

MOVENIMENTO ITALIANO
The name of this event area speaks volumes about the programme, which offers nothing but unadulterated Italian music from start to finish. Actually, the artists from the boot-shaped peninsula played a key role in the creation and development of hardstyle. Although the name of this energetic dance style came from the Netherlands, the actual sound of the new genre took shape in the studio of Italian producer Technoboy, in particular. While hardstyle definitely shares certain aspects with the old school of the early 90s, including a slower tempo and ample room for melodies, hardstyle, which originated around the turn of the millennium, is a movement in its own right.

Apart from Technoboy, the movement’s patriarch, Italian hardstyle giants Davide Sonar, Activator, Bruno Power, Ivan Carsten and Tuneboy, the last of which will play a set of classics, will bring out the heavy musical 'artillery' to fire up the audience. Hardstyle has since become one of the most popular and influential hard music genres and is catching on in dance clubs in more and more countries around the world. Notably, hardstyle has more than proven itself as a fully-fledged music genre and will be a decade old in just a couple of years.

AREA 04
CYNDIUM PRESENTS PANDEMONIUM VS PARADOX
The Pandemonium party concept is the brainchild of organiser Cyndium and lives up to its illustrious name and with some regularity. In a word, Pandemonium parties are all about dancing till dawn with fun people like you did in the early days, hakken in your good old pair of Nike Air's, but with a new, refreshing twist. The Pandemonium parties in Amsterdam Studios Gashouder and The Sand is indelibly branded in the minds of visitors past. In 2007, a magnificent party was given in De Gashouder with the theme ‘Masquerade’, which was successfully followed by a party in The Sand in Amsterdam on 15 March 2008 with the theme 'The Dark Symphony'.

It is no coincidence that Q-BASE has already represented organiser Cyndium twice. Paradox is an extremely popular concept devised by city party people aimed at older hardcore in its broadest sense. The old-style hardcore heard in the Paradox hall has been very well received by past Pandemonium party-goers. For this reason, Cyndium decided to create an independent Paradox concept for parties with more of an old-style hardcore flavour. The unique thing about the parties is that the Cyndium artists, with Hitmachine forming the best example, often create modern productions specially for the occasion with a distinctive hardcore feel to them. In this way, Paradox is working hard to infuse the old-style hardcore scene with fresh new material.

ENZYME RECORDS
In 2001, Enzyme Records was founded with hardcore guru Ruffneck as its creative director. Officially, Patrick van Kerckhoven is the label's 'head honcho', but he allows his talented team a great deal of freedom to do what they do best: produce fantastic recordings. The common denominator of the wide range of sounds produced by the influential label is the intensity and raw energy, but the recordings can have both mainstream and dark, industrial undertones. Boasting artists like Endymion, Nosferatu, Ophidian, Weapon X, The Immobilizers and Enzyme X, Enzyme Records is one of the better hard dance labels in the business.
Parent label Enzyme focuses on mainstream hardcore in its broadest sense, while Enzyme X, a branch of the label, was founded especially for the more experimental hardcore sub-genres. Enzyme K7 is dedicated to darkcore, the hardest electronic music that this quality label has to offer and Enzyme VIP releases limited edition remixes of Enzyme hits. With a list of releases that oozes with classics, Enzyme Records, the Netherlands’ pride and joy, is doing its part to keep the country’s hardcore legacy alive.
AREA 05
DJAX UP BEATS
Insiders have called Saski Slegers the 'Queen of Techno'. On the stage, she transforms into a female music monster with an insatiable appetite for high voltage hardtechno beats. It was none other than the queen herself who built her own label by hand, Djax Records, to give underground techno artists more creative freedom.
The first time you listen to a Djax Records track, it sounds like an eccentric, hard version of the original techno from Chicago (Rush) and Detroit. This has made the label an important bridge between American and European techno. The comic-book like CD covers are drawn by illustrator Alan Oldham of Transmat fame, ensuring the label is also visually distinctive. Next year, Miss Djax's label will celebrate 20 years in business, which testifies to the company’s consistent policy, but above all, to its talent for attracting the best producers. In anticipation of the anniversary, the Queen of Techno will pop open the first champagne bottles at Q-BASE, where she will present her own brand new album.

AREA 06
MARCEL WOODS PRESENTS MUSICAL MADNESS
Marcel Woods is one of the artists in the genre who has had the balls to test and push back musical frontiers, so brace yourself for musical insanity at the 'Musical Madness' bunker, with the party animal from Brabant himself as your host. The DJ/producer has music in his blood and is known for his adventurousness; taking divergent dance music styles, he mixes them into a smooth finished product, while enjoying himself to max. “Fuck pigeonholes” (“Fuck de hokjes") is a well-known motto of High Contrast's god of trance and ‘Musical Madness' is proof positive that he is a man of his word.

Together the fresh label and corresponding 'Musical Madness' party concept form a new chapter in Marcel Woods' thrilling boyhood adventure. Fellow DJ Pascal Felix broke the ice and joined Woods' creative platform, producing an EP that was well-received. The ‘Musical Madness’ line-up at Q-BASE promises to set the stage on fire with Pascal Felix, Richard Durand, Marcus Schossow, Jonas Stenberg and Woody himself, so don't miss it!
RIOT! IN LONDON
There’s no doubt about it: Riot! In London is one of England's best and most progressive labels. The Riot! In London label and events agency are headed by bigwigs BK and Ed Real, who together ensure the label is every bit as saucy as its name. The label has a spectacular list of producers to its name, including Nick Sentience, Ed Real, Mark Sherry, Eden Project, Judge Jules, D.A.V.E The Drummer, Jamie Taylor and James Lawson.
Throughout the UK, Ed Real and BK are considered some of most influential artists in the hard dance scene. With its roots in hard house, the regal duo has unleashed a raw new sound, making them an even greater source of pride than the English national football team. During the course of its musical career, BK has already released hundreds of tracks and remixes and is a celebrity in his own country. Scott Attrill a.k.a. Vinygroover, who will also perform at Q-BASE, is one of Riot! In London’s hottest new DJs.

AREA 07
ZOO RECORDS VS. DIRTY WORKZ
Zoo Records is an internationally acclaimed label from Belgium and one of the digital engineers behind the so-called ‘Belgium Beats’. Headed by the popular Coone, Zoo Records has a line-up of excellent artists to its name, who have all been in the international spotlight at one time or another. With the help of Dark-E, Mark with a ‘K’, Q-IC, Lethal MG, The Playboys and Fenix, Zoo Records will build a pulsating, melodic, electronic corridor.

Dirty Workz is a high end label by Belgian Coone, who himself produces music, but also provides a creative haven for talented fellow DJs like D&G, Mason, The Nasty Trio and Fenix & DP. Coone’s ‘Cracked’/’Life Is Complex’ (2006) and ‘Bounce on Your Sneakers'/’Keep It Whoat!’(2007) are cheerful, catchy tunes that can be found in the record cases of dozens of fellow, well-known DJs. With these tracks, label owner Coone has also succeeded in putting Dirty Workz on the international map.

SQUARE BEATS
Ruthless is known as an authority in the area of Belgium Beats and related tek styles. His label Square Beats is a musical outlet for many talented artists including Vorwerk, GJ Warez, Max Walder, Manu Kenton and Bassdrum Project. With nearly two dozen releases to its name, the label is well on its way to becoming one of the major players on the quickly expanding tek scene. Ruthless’ famous six-part compilation series called ‘Ruthless Presents’ offers a superb taste of the renowned multidimensional sound.
During Q-BASE, the tek squad will consist of the Dutch trio Ruthless, GJ Warez and live act Noise Provider. Spain’s Bassdrum Project and Frenchman Manu Kenton will add multicultural flair and a lot of musical muscle to the line-up in the Square Beats area. Kenton is a pioneer and the Zidane of French tek, but he has never been too patriotic to allow others outside his home country to share in his inspiration. Bassdrum Project’s Jose A. Herraiz from Valencia has been working successfully as a producer for Square Beats and CHR Records.
AREA 08
THE THIRD MOVEMENT
At the end of the 90s Sebastian Hoff decided to liberate himself from the whims of the dominant hardcore labels of the day and founded his own record label in 2000. Eight years later, The Third Movement (TTM) is a force to be reckoned with, boasting countless major artists, various labels, an events department, booking office and merchandise line. Although TTM was, above all, synonymous with superior hardcore music in the early days, it now represents a broad range of hard electronic styles. The Third Movement is the umbrella organisation, which embodies various labels, each with its own individual musical identity.
The labels Promo Type, r_AW, Industrial Movement, Men In Motion, Stealth Industries and Danamite all represent a particular sound, ranging from rock-hard industrial hardcore, to a rather catchy brand of hardstyle. TTM’s impressive line-up includes hardcore greats like Lenny Dee and The DJ Producer. However, Dutch artists Promo, D-Passion, Rude Awakening, Peaky Pounder, T-Junction, N-Vitral and Void Settler have proven at least as influential for TTM's underground music revolution, which eventually went ‘aboveground’.

GENOSHA RECORDINGS
In 2003, this iron-clad group of hardcore dissidents who were originally part of The Outside Agency laid the groundwork for their label Genosha Recordings. Patrick van Kerckhoven recommended that Outside Agency's Eye-D and Hidden start their own label devoted to a raw, dark, defiant hardcore sound and the rest is history. Creating a mix of dark hardcore styles with industrial, EBM, breakbeat and drum ‘n bass, diversity has come to be Genosha's core concept.
Operating under the umbrella organisation Cardiac, the label will soon have released its 20th CD and has grown into a fully-fledged platform for hardcore artists. Genosha employs both Dutch and foreign producers: The Outside Agency (NL), PetroChemical (NO), Fracture 4 (UK), Chaosbringer (FR), SPL (USA), Mindustries (NL), Ophidian (NL), Ruffneck (NL), The DJ Producer (UK), Dr. Strange (IRL), Theeq (USA), The Enticer (UK) and Nosferatu (NL).

AREA 09
BIONIC
The UK has a long history when it comes to hard dance and boasts numerous musical gems. Bionic, which is headed by Cally and Brian M., has been an authority in the hard electronic dance world since 2000 with regard to club event and party organisation. This ‘dream team’ from the far side of the channel has hosted areas during the Sanctuary Festival, Hardcore Weekender, Southwest Four Metro Weekender and Escape Into the Park.
Bionic’s sphere of influence stretches deep into Scotland, Wales and England, where a large group of followers live. Thanks to the audience’s enthusiasm, these parties have an excellent reputation. Dutch artists including Luna, Dana, Technoboy, Pavo, Showtek and The Prophet are familiar with the British maniacs. Phil York, Frisky, Brian M & McBunn, Cally & Juice, L.E.D. and MC Shocker will travel to the continent to make an appearance at Q-BASE, hopefully with a huge enclave of party people in their wake.

AREA 10
AUDIO ASSAULT
Audio Assault is a techno label founded by Bas Mooy and Jeroen Liebregts in 2002, which has expanded to include the sub-label Arms. Its over 50 releases have proven the musical versatility of this Rotterdam-based techno label. Releases by artists including Go Hiyama, Surgeon, Glenn Wilson, Oscar Mulero, Christian Wunsch, Exium, Patrik Skoog, Paul Mac, DJ Boss, Rumenige & Loktibrada and Radial have put the institution from the seaport town on the international radar.
At Q-BASE, Bas Mooy Radical, Anton Pieëte and Charlton will represent Audio Assault, which has become a stepping stone for talented techno artists. With the two mix albums ‘Mix Series Vol. 01 & 02’ by Luka Baumann and Paul Boex, respectively, the label has produced two fabulous showpiece CDs. The outstanding performances given recently by label owner Bas Mooi and live act Radial earlier this year at Awakenings parties demonstrated that Audio Assault artists excel at more than just production work.

ARTILLERY RECORDS
Bombarding the world with explosive hard techno, German-based Artillery Records delivers what its name promises. The musical general of and genius behind this institution is Amok, a.k.a. Benjamin Arend, whose music is considered some of the hardest and most experimental in the hard techno world. Together Artillery Records and its affiliate Crowbar Records account for many dozens of releases by producers like Weichentechnikk, Waldhaus, Julian Liberator, Rude Awakening and Boris S.
DJ/producer/label owner Amok, who was born in San Francisco, joined forces with Viper XXL in 2006. to found the booking office Artillery Bookings, which meant an even broader platform for hard techno artists. Amok and Viper XXL will present an army of artists at Q-BASE whose proud ranks will consist of Daisy, Frank Sonic, Waldhaus & Weichentechnikk, Linda Pearl & Nadien Coalyard, Jeff Amadeus, Sorgenkint.

AREA 11
GASTEN ZONDER GRENZEN
This area, where the fewest number of beats per minute were heard last year, will come as a pleasant surprise to many visitors. At last year’s Q-BASE, the sheer magnetism of Gasten Zonder Grenzen’s sophisticated techno led to tightly-packed and frenzied crowds. That made it the perfect place to make a pitstop and refuel, though GZG admittedly really do know how to get the party going. In 2008, these free spirits will again be given musical free rein to reel around in their own area all night long.
This adventurous organisation has won its spurs in the underground scene and is famous for its unconventional parties, digital treats and for drawing crazed, but friendly party people. Familieweekend (‘family weekend’), Wappie New Year and the GZG Matinee have already become classics of Dutch nightlife. Their super-fun area at Q-BASE is destined to be added to this list.
