Anton Nathrass has been hailed by clubbers, promoters and dance culture media as the undisputed leader of the ‘next Generation’ of DJ’s to come out of South Africa. The CD, entitled ‘Circle of Light’ as a reflection of Anton’s attitude towards the spiritual connotations of quality dance music, is due for release by mid 2006.

From a media perspective Anton is guaranteed to be one of SA’s most visible DJs in the year ahead. Not only has his gregarious nature and rising popularity made him a popular ‘front man’ for the high profile events and club nights he plays, but there has been a marked ground swell of interest in a book he is writing “Dancing to Celestial Heights” (after an article outlining the concept of the book was published on SA’s 12 000 member strong dance scene website www.mrspencer.co.za ). Added to this, Anton’s own website, www.antonnathrass.co.za , was launched in the last quarter of 2005 and is fast becoming one of the most visited DJ sites in the country. This follows him having been voted SA’s Number one DJ in a poll conducted by the international award winning Clubbersguide website.

Due to the limited scope of the South African dance scene local professional DJs often find themselves over exposing their talents and burning out their brand identities with the local party faithful. Anton, however, realized early in his career that it was necessary to retain an exclusivity and mystique to his DJing if he wanted to achieve long term success. So he turned his back on the traditional weekly residencies that create the over exposure so common on the SA scene and, instead, independently negotiated monthly residencies with some of SA’s premium clubbing brands such as ESP, Truth & Natural Groove.
