Went shopping at Iceland a couple of months ago. It's the most disgusting food I've ever tasted.

No wonder it's a quid.

Much as it pains me to say, Jamie Oliver ( AKA annoying twerp) is right, we need to start feeding this nation, kids especially, properly and that to me means boycotting crap like Iceland!

Things like Iceland has come about because times have changed and demand has risen for quick cheap food, women no longer have the time or enough money to stay at home and cook nutritious meals every night of the week. Places like Iceland are good for those nights when you have done a 12 hour day and just wanna make life simple.

It's people who eat it all the time who mess it up. everything in moderation.

Hmm. I'm a single full-time working mum to two school age children. I cook us healthy, nutritious vegetarian meals from scratch EVERY night and wouldn't dream of compromising on that. It's your duty as a parent to give your children the best start in life.

I'm a student and I work 20 hours. Even when I did only work full time I found it impossible to spend the time with him and cook too, you have to give in somewhere.

I make nice meals but a few times a week I put fish fingers or sausages or chicken legs and oven chips in the oven to just give myself an extra hour or so to play or to draw with him. especially if I have already eaten. He is a nearly 4 year old boy who loves this kind of food I'm not going to deny him when he has a fantastic diet. His nursery provide lunch which is always good quality homecooked food, he eats "garden sweets" and drinks "tap juice" all day. He never sits from the moment he opens his peepers to the minute he shuts them.

I'm healthy he's healthy there is no problem. If you prefer to spend everyone of your nights cooking thats your decision, I don't think you should suggest it is my "duty" to freshly cook a meal every night because that is total bullshit. We live in a modern world where some things have been made easier for us. I am giving him the best start in life the best way I can, coming up with a balance that works for us. Don't judge unless your perfect.

Your kid loves her burgers though doesn't she, as we found out by 'accident' a couple of months ago. ;)

Don't worry not all is lost. Uncle Thai gives the children more than their fair share of 'meat' supplements. :)

Tbh, a healthy meal does not have to take more than 30 minutes to prepare - and that's about the time it takes for oven chips to get done.

I'm not saying you're a bad parent for giving your child oven chips once a week (a few times a week sounds a bit much imo though) - but there are too many parents out there who RELY on processed convenience foods, when healthy food is both quicker, healthier and cheaper in the long run.

I didn't.

I think Tindra is suggesting you're a bad parent.
