Dear Dave - Tattoo
Dear Dave,

Tomorrow's my birthday and to mark the occasion I'm thinking of finally getting my first tattoo. I've spent years trying psyching myself to getting one and figuring out what I want to get, and now I need to find somewhere reputable to get it done.

Can you recommend a good salon to go to? I'm going to be in London to get it and don't mind how much it costs so paying over the odds isn't a problem as long as it's done well.

Also, I plan to go to Ibiza in months time - will it be healed fully and, do you know of any other tips to help it heal as being Irish I have stupidly sensitive skin?

My sis's was (I think) in Soho, near Garlic and Shots, though she had a huge multicoloured Chinese dragon down her entire leg.

The best place is in Camden, a lot fo my friends have gone there, Everyone is right don't pick it even if it does itch like mad, follow the instructions given to you by the tattoo artist and don't let anyone fool you in to thinking that it won't hurt - it will but the degree of pain varies on the person.

I have two tattoo's a tribal one on my lower back and a stars and ribbons one on the inside of my right wrist. I work in an office and they have no problem with it. My boss has one on the inside of her left wrist so I guess that it is acceptable here.

The tattoo parlour my friends went to is this one: Evil from the Needle

Good luck!

Oh and the cling-film thing is bollocks, that's some new age trend for people with too much time on there hands. all you have to do is get it home covered. wash it with soapy water (something you should do twice a day for a week) and you're fine to show it off as much as you want.

Shangri-La is the best in London. Ideally located next to Liverpool Street tube, in Shoreditch, they are top draw, and they are well priced. The head honcho there has had a 2 page feature in the independent, and has twice been voted best tattooist in London.

Ladies and Gentleman, I have been Jordan T. Good night and God bless you all.

And the penny drops!! I knew that place sounded familiar! Thanks Jordan...

I used Bepanthen (it's a nappy cream) on my last tattoo and it worked really well. You don't get scabs if you use it so it prevents the temption to scratch the tattoo.
