Becoming a DJ
Hey guys, I'm looking to become a DJ in a bar/club or wherever but I don't have any recording equipment. I live in Manchester and I REALLY want to become a DJ... it's like a huge dream for me and I'v been a bedroom DJ for about half a year now. At the minute I have just played sets at house parties, but I don't know how to get any bigger that that unless I pay out loads for recording equipment. I have Technics (mk2's) and Technics mixer and shit loads of Hardhouse/Trance/Hardcore vinyls. Can anyone please shed any light on this for me? Like any open mic sets in Manchester etc or any alternatives?

Thanks alot

nah this aint the case mate,

You can get a cd recorder which i think you can get them on ebay for £10 or there about,

Record a mix and then go to events and support them and you will get more recgnition than sending 50 cds out,

In manchester there are plenty of nights in the area,

Stomp
Tuition (both two night i have played for and top guys)
Gravity (acrington)

Go to support local nights and get to know the people, So much better getting to know a face rather than a name on dsi or facebook

ive been after a cd recorder for ages they fetch average of 70 quid on ebay. i just use a md recorder and put mixes on the computer, ive only had a few gigs myself but thats mainly due to the fact im allways skint and cant afford any new tunes on vinyl so dont really promote myself as only have old tunes.

as long as your good enough and can get a mix to someone youll be on your way

im havin a break to save up for some cdjs so i can take it more seriously

i find it mad how you can pick up a dvd recorder for about 40 quid new and yet cd recorders new are more than 100 for a basic one
