Your personal nerd system....
I'm interested to hear what people are using for music & movies, in case I'm missing out on something.

This seems like the safest place to post it and with any luck I'll get something more useful than the usual my way is better than your way debate.....

*just re-read this before posting and i bored myself shitless! still interested to know what you use and why (or what you think i'm doing wrong) if you can be arsed*

I use a lot of Apple products, but I don't love apple - it's just turned out that way.

i know a lot of people hate iTunes but I love it. The encoding on it is plenty good enough and the organisation and ID3 tagging is just really easy to use. Plus i can read all my playlists with Serato and i absolutely love airtunes - one of my favourite apple products.
My only gripe is the standard settings - so many people get unwittingly stitched up with shitty AAC files and deleted originals. if i was a big user of MP3 players i'd probably get a sony but as it stands i'm getting on ok with ipods & iphones.

I've got an airport extreme as the main router but only because I HAD to get one to use my airport express as a network extender. Not happy about that one - very sneaky move by apple!
I needed an airport express in the first place for airtunes. it works great, but my first airport express blew up just outside of guarantee, which was not so great. regardless though, that system is working pretty good for us.

Have Apple TV in the living room which was a pile of shit as standard (locked to iTunes, won't play lots of stuff, no USB etc.) but is wicked now it's been hacked with XBMC, Boxee and some other thing that made the USB work. it works as an airtunes router as well which is a big bonus. I seriously recommended a secondhand old style Apple TV over the new one.....

I ended up with an iPhone 4 and many things about it annoy me, but i don't regret it. Apple remote is awesome for iTunes and it just works really well for general internet use. Really don't rate the camera though and the lack of removable storage is really annoying. Wifi storage app is a usable workaround but I'd still rather have drag & drop and a micro SD that I could use as a USB flash drive.

My housemate downloads TV & Movies from torrents and we watch those on the apple TV from a USB stick but we often watch streaming movies on my birds samsung web book too - that seems to work pretty well.
Can't fault the web book. Always works great, windows XP is familiar and reliable and the battery lasts forever. She's also got a little Sony X10 mini android phone which is great so far.

I've got a MacBookPro as my main computer and it's been great for me. the lack of viruses is a big plus point for DJing/music as is hot corners. is there anything like that on windows laptops now?
My biggest grip is the lack of USB ports. only putting 2 on is absolutely ridiculous.

I've also got an iPad but I reckon the Galaxy tab etc. is probably a better product as the iPad is too restrictive. It's all about the apps rather than the device itself though and the iPad is probably winning on that front.....apart from no MS office or flash on there.

Anyway, what do use for music, movies & mobile technology, what features do you love, which ones do you wish you had and what things annoy you or are missing?

also, how do you mostly use the internet? i mostly check the iPhone and get the MacBook out if it's anything important.

I get my insurance through Orange, 6 quid a month!

My home insurance covers it. (As did a can of Relentless, hence the insurance claim.)

My HD25's have just had their fourteenth. I've treated them to new, sky blue pads.
