Looking to be put off the iphone 4.
I have held back on the whole iphone thing for years now. But I am due an upgrade..again! And am getting incrasingly drawn to getting one.

I currently have a Nokia N900 and love it. By far the best phone I have ever had. Superb for internet and wifi.

Can anyone give me reasons not to get one? One of the things that stand out is the fact that you have to use itunes to delete stuff off of the phone. Anything else?

If not, then get an iPhone.

I've heard that all the managers at a car company whose initials are similar to "JLS" have recently been given iPhones (iPhone 3 I think). It seems that large numbers of them haven't been able to work out how to:

a) Call someone from their contacts list
b) Answer if someone calls them

Behold the captains of industry that will save us from a double-dip recession...

why did they only give iphones to people with initials similar to JLS?

That will teach me not to proof-read!

I love the fact that the day the German government warns its people about the security issues affecting PDFs in all iwhatever hardware, the European Union Commission announces they are issuing their staff with iphones as they are 'secure'!

If you hold it right, you can even make a phone call on it.

What's wrong with a Blackberry exactly?

The stupid buttons, and it looks utterly shit, and it's for boys, mainly boys who do dull jobs.
The simple question is: are you a computer nerd? If not, then get an iPhone. You honestly won't be disappointed.

Nah not at all. Like gadgets though. Just concerned over this signal issue. Just like a phone with god internet options and ease of use. Other than that I'm not fussed. That's why I love the Nokia N900 so much.

If I'm honest, I feel that I'm 'missing out', but not having a iphone. But the new Nokia N8 looks fucking good.

Plus it's got HDMI out.

That sounds awesome - can you summon him to answer your prayers straight away?

I feel that I'm 'missing out', but not having a iphone.

You are ;)

Yeah, on dropped calls and pointless applications that never get used. I bet that Nokia comes with Google maps and sat nav too.

I have built in navigation, I don't need a gadget for that

Don't listen to Dom. The iPhone 4 internet experience is outstanding and many of the flaws that plagued previous iPhones have now been fixed. The only reason I can see for not getting one is the annoyance of having to sync everything through Apple's programs e.g. iTunes. If you can get over this then definitely get one.

I've had mine for a week now and have had no signal issues whatsoever.

I must admit that is probably the main thing holding me back. Is it true you can't delete stuff unless it's done through itunes?

Yes it does and a 12MP camera and full 1080p video.

You can delete apps off your phone - I don't think you can delete music though.

That just reminds me of that stupid video with the cartoon character who keeps saying "but you can get it in white!"

I suppose it's a bit like really really wanting a pair of shoes even though they're not very practical and they will hurt like hell, but you just HAVE to have them :)

Exactly like that. You are either blinded by apple, or see how utterly wanky they are.
