Docking stations
I'm looking to get a docking station for my front room, I have just got rid of my stereo system and wanna replace it with a docking station.
My first impulse is to buy the Bose johnlewis.com because I know the sound quality will be superb and if I need to it has a lithium battery so good for taking away with you.
But I am swaying toward the B&W johnlewis.com mainly because it also plays CDs.

Can anyone reccommend a good one? Or has anyone got one of the two above?

docking station

front room

sound quality

Urgh... there's nothing good about the sound of compressed music being played out of speakers in a front room.

I'm not sure why you would want to throw away a stereo system and replace it with a couple of 25W 3 inch speakers when you could just have plugged your mp3 player into the stereo.

i personally would not buy a docking system for my main music system. your limited with what you can do with them.

the dennon D-M37DAB is a good system and won awards in 2009. it accepts ipods via cable or optional docking station available to sit on top that you can control ipod via remote.

it also has a cd player and DAB radio and can be used for home cinema and you can plug in other audio sources

you can buy here in a package with the wharfdale diamond 10.1 monitors for £349.95

forumhifivisual.co.uk

or just buy the unit for around £160 and use whatever speakers you want

user review here off what hi-fi .

Bought the Denon a few months ago. Now recently changed the LS for the Wharfedale Diamond 10.2. After some warming up for the 10.2's last week this combination rocks! Just played Chris Jones "Roadhouses and Automobiles", it's exceptional for this price (450+290 euro's). Many thanks to WHF for pointing this Denon out!

Now please test this combo, it's almost magic?!

the Bose
is good, but
the B&W
is better. Widely rated as the best ipod dock on the market in terms of sound quality.
If you wanted to get a stereo system again like these other unhelpful chaps are suggesting, then you could get a standalone dock to go with it.

They do look neat if you're trying to minimalize things. I went to a friend's nicely kitted out flat and it did look good, and sounded really good as well.

Although all the sound geeks seem to be saying otherwise...

I didn't fucking ask for lifestyle choices. I asked what docking station is the best. Now if you don't wanna answer the question, kindly fuck the fuck off.

Calm down thought police! I had no fucking idea that we had to stick 100% to the question when you start a thread.

How stupid of me. Sorry for trying to guide you in the wrong direction.

Go waste your money.
