My HTC Sensation
Once upon a time it was marvellous. Did everything I wanted. Then came an update for android I believe and it went totally loop the loop, everything crashing settings randomly changing, all sorts.

I did a factory reset and built it up again. Apart from a few little quirks and glitches I'm pretty much there apart from one thing, my email notifications. I used to have a specific notification sound for emails (different from texts), and it would only sound once per received message.

Now it plays a default noise (not the default noise that I set in the settings part of the phone either), and it plays it once every two minutes until I throw the thing at the wall (and read the message). I've been through the settings on the app and on the phone but the options dont appear to be anywhere.

A: I would like to turn the repeat notification thing off. It drives me insane.

B: I would like to be able to pick my own sound for the notification.

Anyone have any ideas? Because this seems like such a simple task, but its completely baffling me. I'd download a new app or something, but seeing as I have had it set up how I liked it before (I like the widgets on my homescreens too) it seems a little pointless to throw money at the problem and get something new.

Interesting about having Wifi switched on.

I'm presuming that this works because, even though the phone can't connect to another network's base station, it can still get location info from it. Dunno if it's an android thing or what though...

Wow, it does make a difference when connected to my Wifi. Tonight when I'm in the car I'm gong to fire it up and see if it works that way too. Thanks mate!

It might not be so effective on the road, where you're less likely to get wifi networks in range.

I admit it is hope over intuition. But I never imagined someone would give me a year old iPhone for nothing so any thing's possible.

BT Openzone and BT Fon seem to be absolutely everywhere these days, so you might be surprised.

meh know its late in the day, but if anyone is still running their Sensation I've stuck on Bruces ROM and been using it for 3 months and its fantastic, odd minor glitch here and there but its all good! Gives you CM10 Jellybean with fully working Google Now.

forum.xda-developers.com

Just updated the Radio as well, better signal performance across GMS/UTMS and WiFi and better battery performance...

forum.xda-developers.com

and finally anyone running a Original Sensation, if your signal is still a bit crap buy a Sensation XE rear cover, has both WiFi and GSM/UTMS antennas in the rear removable case. The XE cases are rev 4/rev 5 which offers a lot better antenna performance...

The case plus the new radio has given me 3-4 bars when my phone barely got 1 bar!!! This has made it worth while for a bit longer until there is a Nexus 4 32GB :D

Then give it a update :) Mine was grinding to a hlat and really pissed me off unitl I flashed the CM10 JB rom. Its made a massive improvement.

However don't use the link before, I've moved away from that to this one:

forum.xda-developers.com

Been using this for a week now with just one crash (rebooted under 10 seconds) and that from looking at the logcat was caused by an app anyway.

The rom above is very very stable, the very latest Android offering and get all the features of it including Project Butter :) I've never seen it run as fast :)

Shout me on FB if you need a hand or owt :)

I think mine still has a CM7 on it. And I'm not sure that rom was even built for the Sensation??? Having nearly bricked it I am of the opinion that if it isn't broke, then don't try to fix it. Well, It's not quite broke....yet.

3 times I've gone to upgrade my sensation, only to realise, the sensation is still the best phone for me. I've just had it replaced with a factory refurbed sensation. One day they'll release a new Android phone for me.

HTC Droid DNA if you want to stick to the brand.

One of the impressive stats about the S4 i heard was that it has something like a 2300 battery. That for me, as someone who is terrible at charging my phone, is a massive plus.

Dom its got a lot easier :) Change the bootloader to EXT4 and you should be fine! As long as you can access the bootloader its all good...

CM7 was the first one as the phone was originally Gingerbread... Then CM9 was released for ICS and then full CM10.1 are out now.

Was going to scrap my phone for a Nexus 4... but CM10.1 on it, new rear case/antenna and a 32GB mSD card and its still perfect 2 years later!
