Big DSI news!
Dear DSI!

As a number of you have already seen via the guardian article, we have recently been taken over by development hell, who run magazines 'The Word' and 'Mixmag'.

We have been working really hard to get this deal signed since last October. Now the deal is finally done, we can concentrate on the site relaunch that we promised you in January!

We are back in the office, which feels GREAT after 5 months working from home (and going slightly insane). The new office is in Angel, London and we have been setting up today / yesterday, so please bare with us if you are trying to phone the office, as the phone system is playing up a little. Best way to contact us all at the moment is email.

The DSI office staff are now:

John
Dave
Owain
Jason
Andy
Gee
Wendy

Tim has moved on to pastures new and we wish him the best of luck in whatever he goes onto.

We are REALLY excited about this deal, and are really looking forward to the synergy that is created by having DSI, the Word and Mixmag all in the same offices.

Thanks for sticking with DSI over the years, the next chapter is just beginning!

Cheers,

John / All at DSI HQ!

Hopefully, this is the end of TC calling the shots on here. Which, this face(book) it, has left this website dead in the water.

Oh my, don't you look a bit of a cunt

I dunno what's that all about!!?? But i do know that facebook @ the moment is affecting dsi because everyone i know is on facebook now, why baffle's me as facebook is SHIT.

Why is Facebook being compared to DSi ? I figure the two to be completely different. One primarily a clubbing web site the other a social networking site. Not sure either have ever professed to be any kind of rival....

horses for courses and all that but the more time you spend on one, the less time you have for the other....

I generally get invited to raves on here about two days after i get the facebook invite. Awesome difference there, not! I think the thing is, a lot of people didn't want the hassle of DSI in it's construct. They want the ease of the facebook event system and thus facebook is now the leader in clubbing event PR. So while different in there approach, they both perform the same job.

The facebook event system is crap. If you try and invite more than 100 people at a time, it crashes. Thankfully they've got round it by allowing you to create lists and invite them. You have to go searching through pages of attendees to see who's coming, where as DSI has it all on one page. No one ever uploads pics to facebook events because once the event has past it disappears from your screen straight away. There's no post event discussion like there used to be on DSI because everyone's moved on.

That's because all the people are on Facebook and no clubbers use DSI so it makes sense to get the Facebook page done and if you have time do DSI

Also you can add flyers to the main event pages on facebook. There's no html coding allowed at all which is also annoying

To be fair, i don't generally stalk out who's going to events and if i want to check if my buddies are going to an event they're on the first page. Also i agree about the pic thing being shit. That said, i also think that you should be able to upload event flyers here without having to code html. Though i'm pretty sure that's been done already.

It's more of a promoter issue than just seeing where your mates are going

You can upload one image to sit on the event page which isn't all that helpful considering most flyers i've seen have 2 sides. And the image is small and you can't look at it bigger etc.

totally agree. On top of XI's points multiple versions of the same event can be added and no-one will ever do anything about it.

Yea they are suppossed to be 2 totally different things yea but latelly promoters are blurring the 2 site's.

I generally get invited to raves on here about two days after i get the facebook invite.

By doing that.

I have to agree with Mandy and XI on all their points but even so, I use it as it's a lot more effective than promoting on DSI these days.

When I post an event for something happening in Luton, St Albans, Hitchin or somewhere else outside of London, I get a much better response and more people see it than if I post it on DSI.

I don't even bother going through the hassle of posting it on DSI anymore because the HTML code pisses me off and comments are all from regulars - who will also hear about it via FB. For events outside of London or other major cities, DSI is pointless because it's up to small promoters like myself to push the website and to be fair... I can't be arsed to push someone elses website now - it's hard enough trying to get people to sit up and listen about an event without having to tell them to check it out on a complicated website they have never heard off.

Having said that, I have started using the site a bit more recently, will be good to see what Mix Mag do with it.

No-one links there picture or video to the event which doesn't help. Unless, your friends with the pic uploader you will never see the picture.
