I've released a new version of the code this afternoon. But I will say now, it's not quite what I said it would be.

This is what it does do:

* Mini DSI box can be placed on main profile / wall page
* Normal Box (boxes tab) is working properly again, and fits a bit better
* If you click on the update button on the settings page it'll also try and make a few feed posts (to your wall) about the latest things you've done (spots, events, galleries)

So, first up, why no dontstayin tab?
First of all, tabs work differently to boxes. Boxes are cached info, the DSI app periodically updates that cache with new data, whereas tabs are live data, i.e. it expects the info to be redrawn to the screen each time someone looks at the tab. This would take some big changes to the code.
Tabs are also a lot larger than a box, so to fill one up, I soon realised I'd pretty much be replicating the whole DSI profile page in the tab. This isn't what we want, the idea of the DSI application isn't to avoid coming to DSI, it's to inform people of what's been going on, and to encourage them to come and visit the site for more information. So I think for the type of application the DSI Facebook Application is, a tab all of its own isn't the right format.

Wall feeds
Facebook have changed how the feeds model works (unknown to me until a few hours ago!) and an application can no longer make a post to your feed without you having manually done something (been active on facebook) at the same time. So the DSI app can post some items onto your wall at the time of clicking "update" on the Settings page but, when it does it's 6 hour automatic update for you, it can't do shit!
So, where now? Well, we're looking at maybe some other integration options, so we'll get back to you on that one.
Oh, and currently, facebook will only let you do a few wall posts from the DSI App a week! :(
On a nice note, this change to the platform has also fucked over the Tilllate application!

Using the new version
If you have already got the old one added, you're good to go! Over the next 24 hours the changes will automatically roll out to everyone who has the old box, but if you want to jump the gun, go to the settings page and click update... that'll do the job.
While you're on the settings page, just quickly hover over the the "settings" menu up on the top right, and chose "Dontstayin.com box settings"... then just check that you're allowing the box to post stories automatically.
If you've already got the box in your boxes tab, and you then want to move it to your wall page instead, go to your boxes tab, click on the pen in the top right corner of the box, and choose "Move to wall".. done! If you haven't actually got the box on show anywhere, a button will appear on the bottom of the settings page that will say "Add the the DSI box to your profile homepage".... click that... done!
You'll notice that the box is quite small, and has limited info when on the wall / profile page... pants huh? Not my fault, that's the biggest they'll let me make it!

And finally, what's next for the app

* Ok, so there's some stuff going on in the background to improve it, i.e it'll no longer be snooping your profile page soon, instead it'll be fed from XML feeds supplied by the kind guys at DSI HQ
* I'll be getting back onto finishing the MySpace version too soon
* There could be some wall post integration possibilities still yet to turn up somewhere ;)

Nope, that's facebook being shit.. they only allow your application 3 seconds to return content! So, that gives the DSI application 3 seconds to get your DSI name from the database, request your profile page from DSI, get a response back from DSI, run shit loads of code to get the bits it wants, and then draw it out to your profile! It's a miracle it manages at all!

On the plus side, the XML feeds will drastically speed this up soon!

Am I to asume the feeds are visible to all even if you have the "only show other app users" setting set?

Yes... if you don't want them... there's a tick box in the advanced section of the settings page.
